Does Nunn, KO and a 1st work for Dipo Salary wise?

we have a max slot so we can basically absorb any salary. Nunn, KO 1sts would just be to compensate them and maybe open up some space for 1 of Dragic/Crowder.

It gets trickier when you add in cap holds for Dragic/Crowder.
I’m on my phone right now, so it’s hard to look closer at the numbers ...

Take a step back. Nunn and Herro has unexpectedly contributed well this season. The team in general has performed higher than expected. Nunn was a starter but once the playoff started the inexperienced held the team back and the Heat had to lean on Dragic. It was rearing its head during the season when teams were starting to make their playoff push. Herro is a reserve, its easier to hide his deficiency and teams never took much notice of him. In the finals you can see his inexperienced is hurting the Heat, also the Lakers has game planned for him. Experience Players like Dragic seen it all and knows how to counter most defenses.HerroBalls wrote:twix2500 wrote:A draft picked player is not helping this team on high enough level no time soon.

We literally just drafted Tyler Herro, picked up undrafted Nunn, Duncan and drafted Bam just a few years ago.... Bam who we were begging them to play more his rookie year.
What do you mean?
If anything I'd rather have a veteran guard next to Herro over one next to Bam
Most teams didn't take the Heat serious. The Heat will be on everyone radar next season. In order for the Heat to return they are going to have to be a better and smarter team. When a game plan is made to stop a team, experience is needed to counter the game plan. Look at Robinson, he struggle because teams have game planned for him and he does not have a counter.
Herro just like J. Rich when he had that promising season, it is going to be a greater challenge next season. The same with Nunn. Teams will now targeting the Heat and have tape on Herro and Nunn. A rookie on a title team is going to be in a hostile tough situation. The regular season is going to more of a playoff intensity. Games may likely go back to the norm with fans and home and away games. The bubble gave young inexperienced players less pressure to deal with.
This has been a blessing of a season. There have been some unusual factors that contributed to the Heat success. Being complacent and thinking the same formula will work twice is fools gold.
The Heat are going to need players who know their roles, who complement Bam and Jimmy to continue their success and hopefully exceed further. Even Bam himself needs to improve. Bam and Jimmy are going to need their shots next season. This is why they moved Winslow and Waiters. Two players who wanted to be the guy. Two players who did not want to play the needed role.
The Heat inexperienced players have gained a lot of experience in this playoff run. However they are going to have to show what they learned. Or they may suffer the sophomore slump.

One free agent that I think should be on our radar is Davis Bertans.
He's basically a stronger taller Duncan Robinson that plays PF. Probably better defender.
Would really fit here next to Bam, I wonder what is market is.

6’10” stretch 4s that averaged 3.7 made threes per on 42% are gonna have a very healthy market.
I don’t see any way we could get him unless we bailed on 2021. Which we won’t do.

He was 1st in catch & shoot points from the arc in the league by a hair to Duncan. but Duncan is more efficient. Looks like a better defender.
To be fair though refs don't respect Duncan yet. Esp when star players like Tatum or Lebron hunts mismatches & go at Duncan. they'll blow the whistle on any ticky tacky fouls. So Duncan was made to look worse than what he really is. He's still a weak defender but not as much as they make him out to be if he was a respected player. W/ the way he shoots & Heat making finals i'm sure that respect will come.
Duncan actually showed some improvements on D as the PO's went on. You can teach defense. Duncan isn't slow, uncoordinated or stupid. He has the tools. I'm sure they can develop his D & improve him for next season. Just as uch as they will develop Bam's J.
If u don't want 2b here, the way things work, u don't like it, then don't b here. U have 2 stand on something. If Miami ain't standing on something, they become alot of these organizations trying 2 find their identity. This is the culture, bro -Wade

I know that's the narrative that we all got in our heads, BUT - Looking at our actual 2021 cap space situation, it's actually feasible to add a max player even if we give a new player guaranteed money for 2021-2022 season :
We'll have Jimmy making big bucks on his max deal
Bam and Robinson will have smallish cap holds
Herro, KZ and Silva would all still be on rookie deals
That's it.
So hypotactically, we could give a player something around a 4 year, 60Mil$ deal this summer, and still have enough room to add a Giannis/Leonard/any max player in 2021.

He’d be a pretty nice fit with Bam this szn, and in lineups alongside Bam or Giannis in 2021
Hey I’d be happy to be wrong. If we can pull it off and retain max space, keep Gogi, I’m down.

From all the reports I've seen he is not a good defender and not a good rebounder. So his height is pointless, unless you assume he can get his shot off better than Duncan because of his height. Its more of the same in Olynyk.RexBoyWonder wrote:One free agent that I think should be on our radar is Davis Bertans.

I think it is important that if the Heat spend money, it should to get a more well rounded player than what they already have. As Bam and Herro shot attempts increase the complementary players have to contribute in other areas besides shooting.

Yea I think I was wrong. With the cap dropping, I'm doubtful we can add any salary if we want to save max salary open space for Giannis.
1 year deals it is.

I want to keep Nunn. He had a great season. I want to see him improve and he is still very cheap. If anything you improve him, re-sign him, then trade him. Otherwise you'll be giving up talent and not getting much back in return because of his cheap contract.

Man, its a shame what happened with Nunn, i lost all my confidence in him. Its different than what happened to Drob, he was getting defended extremely well, but Nunn just keeps on bricking wide open shots, i am done with him and if they can ship him with Kelly and a pick in order to get Dipo i would do it in a heartbeat.

I havent lost confidence. His struggles has a lot to do with BBIQ. BBIQ is gain through experience. It one of the reason I want to get a veteran point guard who can be a mentor for Nunn in ball handling, passing and defense. DRob is about physical limitations. But even if DRob is not scoring he is playing his role right. He is stretching the defense.

If the Heat don’t make a trade this offseason and use their space to resign Dragic and/or Crowder to big one year deals I would like them to explore seeing what it would take to sign Paul Milsap. Riley has been interested in him for a while. With Denver looking to resign J Grant they may not make Milsap a priority. He would fit great in the front court next to Bam and provide more defense and veteran leadership. They can also draft a front court guy at 20 that Milsap can teach the ropes.

I was coming in here to post about Milsap. He’s the perfect fit for our team. He’s a veteran who plays D, stretch the floor so he’ll be a good fit next to Bam. My only concern with him is his injury history.
I do think that we’ll need another player in addition to Milsap in order to win it all next year. I wouldn’t mind packaging Nunn, KO and our #20 pick for a solid veteran contributed. In a perfect world we could trade for Myles Turner but the Pacers will need more to trade him to us.
Turne, Silva
Bam, Milsap
Butler, Iggy, KZ
Robinson, Crowder
Herro, Dragic

Can't offer Crowder or even Goran more than a 1 year deal
I love them, but can't make the same mistake again. We're so close.

One thing is certain, we got ourselves a Whale. I knew Butler was great and an all star but this series show he is a whale. We are close.
Going into some meetings we now walking in with a Whale, several All Stars, Spo and Riley. Wow. In Riley we trust.

Yeah, this series is showing we’re closer than many expected - even many of us.
Having Jimmy/Bam/Herro/Duncan/Nunn in the bag, with likely Dragic (& hopefully Jae) signing on after a big 1-year deal, makes our pitch attractive to the other whale we want. Especially knowing we’re already at contending level.

You can’t buy better PR than what this playoff run has done for us. Win or lose, we should be in a really strong position in either this offseason or 2021.
