He's a free agent. That's why he's saying that. The Yankees are a traditional deep pocket team and he wants to get paid and win. The Yanks gave his counterpart $326 million so he's thinking that he should be in the comparable range annually (regardless of whether he wants to sign long term or commit to 'one year at a time' like he said in the past).
Agreed. You guys want him?
I would, hell yeah. If Gerrit Cole is ok with it I'd have no problem. My interest is in winning and having a Trevor Bauer pitching game 2 instead of that mess that pitched game 2 would likely have already won the Yankees the series. Bauer being outspoken and quirky? He can be a psychopath for all I care if he can help the Yankees win.

Cole, Bauer and (hopefully by around midseason 2021) Severino? 1, 2 and 3 come playoffs? That is a potential killer lights out steamroller trio. If Cole wants to win badly he should want this to happen. And it'll cost them next to nothing in terms of additional dollars on the payroll. The $ amount of Tanaka and Paxton's contracts combined for this year can roll right over to sign Bauer for next year. By playoff time we're talking about the aforementioned top 3 and then you just fill the remaining 3 spots with some combination of what you already have Montgomery, Garcia, Schmidt, German, Nick Nelson or a bargain basement vet.
