I haven't watched a second of the finals and I still agree with this comment...........Sad. Smart would have shot 5 threes down the stretch bricking at least 4. That mixed in with a tatum turnover or two if that were us. When in doubt, chuck 3's. That has to change next year.

He has played through mild injuries throughout much of his career. Supposedly he played through a torn labrum (shoulder) his first few seasons in the league, and has had periodic knee trouble in addition. He's got that Marcus Camby build and it's really been the only thing holding him back from true superstardom.

Eric Spoelstra has been magnificent. If Miami is ever dumb enough to fire him, that is definitely a coach I wouldn't mind having if things don't work out with Brad.

Thank god Heat still alive. Please please let Dragic be fit for game 6. We need a Heat win.

Is it just me or is Davis soft as butter?

Say what you want about LeBron, but he is amazing.

This whole "Do it for Kobe!" narrative is whack. Going to make me sick to my stomach when Lebron wins Finals MVP and dedicates it to Kobe, just so he endears himself to Laker fans. It's just gross.

I hear you.
Though, Kobe did get to see Lebron in a Lakers uniform.

Ya it really doesn’t bother me...if god forbid an all time Celtics legend like bird or someone passed and kemba or Tatum were saying win it for him I’d say it was pretty cool. I don’t really think it’s a narrative, Kobe to this generation is really mr laker- as strange as that sounds.

I’ll admit hearing it every second does get redundant but I understand why and how it’s the story & im cool w it

I'll watch game 7 if it gets there. I fully expect the heat to lose game 6 though.... But they've proven to be a much mentally tougher and smarter team than us so who knows. I give them a small shot.

I've got a newfound respect for Jimmy Butler. He didn't show up against the Celtics but he's showing up when it matters most - at the biggest stage. I hope they somehow pull off the upset.

Most Cs fans including those on this board definitely underestimated them.

Well, well, well.
So Miami didn't crumble. 3-2. OK.

Just like the Warriors the past few yrs, you're seeing what home grown talent gets you. The Heats main players, aside from JB, have all been drafted (not high picks either) or have been diamond-in-the-rough signings. Duncan Robinson went undrafted! Heat signed him to the G league. Same with Nunn. Bam, Duncan, Herro, Nunn.

Then there's Danny. Almost 20 years as GM and only a single all star to his name until Tatum showed up. And no one from these past drafts aside from Grant looking like he has potential to sign in the future as a solid bench piece. I'll give Theis some love, too. He nailed the Fultz trade, he nailed the Jaylen pick. But with all the picks this team has had over the years, it is depressing to see only two have really panned out thus far and look to be future starters, and you've got MAYBE two in Theis/Grant who will stick around as solid rpers.

Have to respect Jimmy. I always thought he was good not really in that great tier but he's been incredible on the biggest stage without Dragic and Bam banged up. He played 47+ minutes. What more can you say.

This is bonkers.
C's need to add a couple of shooters. AND LEARN HOW TO MOVE WITHOUT THE BALL.

Jimmy Buckets is just clutch! Damn sinking all those important free throws to get the lead back and forth, was just insane nerves. Our guys would definitely have crumbled and take the ill advised 3 in those situation. I remembered us up 2, and Kemba dribbled away the clock, just to get blocked. Spo is way ahead of Stevens. The difference here is they attacked the Lakers inside and forced the refs to call a foul, or take the short mid range, which is a lot better than chucking away the 3. I think our guys will learn a lot watching the Heat. They play the right way, and Butler is so calm, they rarely panic.

People gave Stevens crap for comparing the Heat to GSW, but he clearly meant it in style of play. Their player movement is outstanding. I know Stevens is capable of coaching a team like that; we had it in 16-17. Wish he could get this team to play that way, but it isn’t a requirement for winning a championship. It’s damn beautiful to watch, though.

Also, while people definitely underrated the Heat (me included), I will say, as usual, this is proving that people completely overestimate how much talent you need to compete for a championship.

We definitely have enough talent. Just need to figure out the right mix of guys to fit around our core + our guys really..and I mean really need to play smarter than they do. Hope that comes with age.

CG compared the Heat to the Dubs even before Stevens and Lebron did hehe.

ConstableGeneva wrote:Miami's half court offense is much harder to defend than that of Toronto. Stevens may have to bring out our defensive blueprint against the pre-KD Warriors for this one. Heat just run a ton of action with players screening, cutting, running every which way until they get a wide open look. They have Bam as their more offensively-equipped Draymond Green, who they rely on a lot to initiate and facilitate on offense. Then they have shooters from every position if they wanted and cutters/drivers like Butler/Dragic/Herro.

Combine the way we ran our offense in IT's last season + the shotmaking talent we have now = team that's harder to defend. Cs need a different level of commitment, BBIQ, and instinctive passing & cutting skills to do what Miami is doing though. It also helps to have a passing big like Bam or Horford. Looking at you, Timelord.

Nice win!

Am I seeing this right? Are there really Celtic fans on this board wanting the Lakers too win?

Go Heat!

We need veteran guys that’s been there and battle tested. Plus guys that fit together. A defensive center that can at least hold his own against the likes of AD, Giannis, Bam etc down low defensively. A dead set shooter, good offensive player off the bench. I don’t know what to do with Kemba. He was just exposed badly. Teams will continue to attack him moving forward.

I can't speak for others but I don't want the lakers to win. I just think they are going to..........and miami losing would be amazing to me. Not as amazing as the lakers losing, but seeing them heartbroken after breaking ours would be lovely.........I'm petty like that.
