If that is true there is a few things you can do without dismissing the idea:

1) Find your version of PJ Tucker who defends all the 5's in the regular season (or just matchups Giannis wants no part of) and hugs the corner on offense
2) Get a small who can shoot in the PnR and play them off the floor
3) Stagger his minutes so Giannis doesn't face these guys in the first place

Or just sign a Center in FA.

Yeah signing a center so we can play Giannis at center while we have 2 very serviceable centers already on the roster.

No, sign a center so you can trade brook and not play Giannis at center. Baynes, Len, whatever...

Baynes would be nice if that three ball sticks. Ride him for as many minutes as you can get in the regular season then have him mostly backing up Giannis in the playoffs. That's a dude who can take the hits for 82 games to keep Giannis fresh for the small ball East playoffs.

Also want to add a decent tall forward to play PF in those playoffs small ball teams. The younger version of what we needed out of Marvin.

Yes. Yes. Yes. I could even be convinced to give DJ a final try in that role if we don’t trade him as filler.

I really have no interest in Giannis playing major minutes at center. He doesn't want to play center and like others have noted, he's not very good at banging in the post with other centers. On defense he picks up stupid fouls, doesn't make smart decisions, and really doesn't use his physical skills to his advantage. I'm fine when Bud wants to throw a curveball and play him at center in short spurts.

**** it sucks that DJ doesn't want to be that guy. I guess he has one last shot probably to the deadline where he'll certainly be used as filler as an expiring. Happy for him to make up $$ in that Paul trade. :D

DJ looking seriously promising for like a 15-20 game stretch and like a turd for the entire rest of his career is pretty Bucks. Would've been sick if this was for real:

Either he's just not committed to being that player or he's entitled & thinks he should get minutes no matter what.

...or the new system REALLY doesn’t favor him.

(I can’t believe I’m making a desperate excuse for DJ **** Wilson. Things are bad.)

EDIT: that clip was from Bud era. He really just sucks.

Nobody is banging at the post anymore, and there's probably no such thing as centre really. The Rockets didn't even have a proper PF.

You need some sort of a beefy dude on the bench when LA plays someone like Dwight whose only goal in life these days is to bruise you, but there's not many guys like that left in the league.

As a C you're more likely to guard someone like AD/Jokic, and the last thing they want to do is bang at the post. Which is also the last thing your coach will ask you to do in offense.

Giannis low-key can body any big, it's just too much to ask of him with the current style of play. I'd love to see Howard try to pull some sh-- on him. Think he'd find out he wouldn't be able to.

Jokic would bully full time C Giannis in a series. Jokic can dial it up in terms of post play & physicality when he really wants to. And anyways again it's not just about post play defensively, it's all the other physical play (boxouts, fighting for position, etc) that Giannis would have to do for 35-40 minutes against players bigger/stronger than him.

Portland isn't trading Dame but id guess you'd have to drop the protection and add another unprotected 1st from the Bucks

If we do we'll sign him to an extension, immediately regret it and then use a 1st to get rid of him.

It makes us worse and gives up the only young guy in our top 8 players. I don't want Lillard very much, but I can see an argument for him. I can't see an argument for Gibson or Smith.
