I think the reason I'm getting a little gunshy on drafting Wiseman is I'm haunted by the long, terrible history of Warriors drafting big men. And yeah, I know a lot of those weren't this front office group and many were picked much lower in the draft, but I just remember all the hype over these guys and so many complete busts. Even the ones who stuck around for a while like Foyle and Ezeli were not good. Obviously they struck gold with Draymond, but he's not a true center, and the Bogut trade was a good one, but we didn't draft him. Just feel like we're cursed drafting bigs.

Whereas I feel like we have a much better track record drafting guards and wings. A wing who can hit 3s and play some defense is going to be useful—especially on this team—even if they don't end up being an All-Star starter. I have a hard time believing guys like Haliburton, Vassell, Avdija, and Okoro are going to not be useful and wash out of the league quickly. Harrison Barnes never lived up to his hype/potential, but even he was a useful player.

That's why I don't mind a #2 for #8 + Robinson trade. At least Robinson has shown he can play in the league a bit, even if he has a lot of work left to do, despite being criminally mismanaged by the most demoralizing team in the league. His per-36 stats are 15+11 with 3 blocks, that's not bad. To me Robinson is a project, yes, but one that already has a base of a couple years in the league to work off of, time Wiseman would have to put in as well to learn the ropes.

And more importantly, at #8, at least one of those probably-very-useful guys is going to be there for us. I still go back and forth and won't be unhappy if they just take Wiseman at #2, but it feels riskier as time goes on.

Okoro’s shot looks fine. We shall see. Hopefully he isn’t a Stanley Johnson. But the mentality says Jimmy lite.

One thing that bothered me about Okoro’s defense was that it didn’t translate into steals or blocks. His per 36 numbers are weak. But in a more nuanced way, his defense seems just fine. Maybe he just isn’t a gambler and he prefers staying with and into his man versus trying to gamble for steals or blocks. But it’s something to pay attention to.

On offense he’s an elite finisher, so with the bench mob, while Draymond sits, he’d be able to finish plays, but not really be a go to guy. We have Paschall for that, and hopefully add a sixth man scorer type to the mix.

1st Trade: Dennis Schroeder (15mil) for the GSW 2021 and the TPE

This creates a 3 million dollar TPE (Could be used at the trade deadline next season.

2nd Trade: Steven Adams for Andrew Wiggins and the Minny 2021

Warriors keep the #2.

Or Adams and the 25th for Wiggins and the #2.
Warriors keep the Minny pick.

I think I'd rather see what Wiggins can be than go get Adams.

The Iguodala TE is $17.2. It has to be used up within a few days of the moratorium. $15.5 to absorb Schroeder's salary leaves $1.7 which won't be used.

I thought we gave our 2021 1st to the Nets.

It was originally for a top 20 protected 2020 First round pick. Since it didn't convey the Nets now get a second round pick from us in 2025.

TPE
Iguodola
Nunn

MLE
Holiday

Minimum
Bazemore

Draft
Wiseman

C Wiseman, Looney, Chriss
PF Green, Paschall, Smiley
SF Wiggins, Holiday, Igoudola
SG Thompson, Bazemore, Lee
PG Curry, Nunn, Poole

A lot of different shooters, a lot of different defenders, familiarity, good team culture. We got some upside with Wiseman, Poole, and Smiley. Nunn and Paschall would be a nice 1-2 punch off the bench with some experienced defenders and shooters around them. It’s not hard to see the fit. The biggest advantage we had in previous years were roster cohesion, team IQ, and running a game plan correctly. This group while not the most talented imaginable could get it done.

I call it the bring em back squad, it will never happen though.

Supposedly those dates are still not set.

The $1.7 could be used to pay a young free agent a little bonus over the vet minimum :)

If we draft Okoro..how are we not as athletic as Miami? Andre is on his last legs ..

Both the heat and Warriors need an upgrade at the Aircraft Carrier position

Love everything about both teams except for talent and size at the 5..Bam13 and Dray are both great at finishing games at the 5 , but you still need the real deal..versatility is a big key

They're not set but the exception will expire like it would have in relation to moratorium date. And trade exceptions can't be used to sign free agents.

You are right, don't know what I was thinking about the TPE for a FA. Meant a young player unwanted by their team like maybe Hejonja, It would be great if the Warriors could get someone like Derrick Jones or Nunn off the Heat but it's not very likely.

Funny enough Mitchel Robinson would fit in that slot.

No need for that kind of trade, they have plenty of exceptions that size. For instance,

Trade Exception (Shabazz Napier, expiring 10/25/20) — $1,597,100
Trade Exception (Trevon Graham, expiring 10/25/20) — $1,597,100
Trade Exception (Willie Cauley-Stein, expiring 1/25/21) — $2,177,483
Trade Exception (Jacob Evans, expiring 2/6//21) — $1,925,880
Trade Exception (Omari Spellman, expiring 2/6//21) — $1,897,800
Trade Exception (Alec Burks, expiring 2/6//21) — $1,620,564
Trade Exception (Glenn Robinson III, expiring 2/5/21) — $1,620,564

So Kerr says the Warriors need to get bigger. Yet Everytime I listen to any Warriors podcast their idea of bigger is 6'8 and 6'9'' wings. That is not helping the team against Denver and the Lakers.

The best thing about Bogut was the ability to erase a drive. It puts the fear into drivers. They hate getting blocked or changed and it stops them from going into the lane all the time.

Our team now allows guys to drive the lane at will. We can’t rely on Draymond to protect the lane against al the length in the league.

We need legit athletic length to at least provide some resistance. This ain’t Rocket Science.

I agree. The team doesn't need guys that can play the 3 and the 4. The team needs legit 7 foot athletes out there.

Agreed ... the issue for your boy is is the best solution adding that athletic shot blocking length through trade/FA or drafting it.

The team ALSO needs guys who can play the 3. Right now the Warriors 3 spot is Wigging and JTA and that is it.
