Charlotte 2020 Big Board - Pick #5

Post#1 » by BigSlam » Mon Oct 12, 2020 6:54 pm

With the draft just over a month away I thought it a good time to get our big board up and going for this year.

We'll keep each picks thread open for a few days before I or another mod tally the votes, lock the thread and open the next pick thread.

Pick #1 = Wiseman (37% out of 30 total votes)
Pick #2 = Okongwu (48% out of 27 total votes)
Pick #3 = Edwards (45% out of 20 total votes)
Pick #4 = Ball (37% out of 27 total votes)

I voted Burton-Hali. I spelled it that way because today is my exes b-day and burton is her maiden name. She was perfection inside out so she deserves homage lol.

I'm sure Hayes can learn how to use his right hand at some point.

Hayes, highest ceiling and one of the highest floors of the prospects remaining.

Lol, he actually uses his right hand, but being a lefty makes it appear as he doesn't... I think? He also is not into dribbling, as much as he is into completing the play... and we are left to wonder, does he have a right hand? I think the appearance of the lack-there-of will probably make coaches press him more, which will probably make it appear as if he doesn't have something, (both hand "dribble") which I think he has.

this is a whole lot of gymnastics from a guy who claims to be the premier talent scout around this way

dude's off hand is weak as hell when it comes to ballhandling and finishing. its not some trick of the camera or some preferred style of play.... its a flaw in his game. and its okay to talk about it.

it doesn't mean he's bad a player, person, or prospect. if anything, it leads one to believe how much he could do if he actually addressed the deficiency then improved. and i genuinely hope he isn't the type to realize he has a problem and talk around it 5 different ways like you just did on his behalf

Here is a video comparing his dribble to that of Haliburton (who is projected as a top 2 or 3 PG in this draft). I didn't look at the whole of either video but from the few minutes I gathered Hayes used his right hand a tad bit more than Haliburton uses his left. I think righty's get away with it more because of its appearance. Haliburton barely used his left even on the fast break and appeared confused when he laid it in. Neither finished with their left. I am not saying there is no need for improvement. Just saying I don't see a definciency

Hayes seems to be a better player than Haliburton but Haliburton's measurements for a PG are off the charts. I'll go with play over measurements though so I pick Hayes.

Haliburton. He has some penny Hardaway in him. Yes I actually watched prime penny and Shaq.

I like Hayes' NBA body more. Also think he works too hard and will be a beast in a few years with NBA strength training and coaching.
I don't support domestic violence. Thanks Miles

Hayes also younger by more than a year. Player development, let's go!
