The main guys who I think can play in shortened rotation:

Kemba
Smart
JB
Tatum
Grant
Theis
Hayward

Question marks:

Rob Williams
Romeo Langford
Tremont Waters

Rob Will, I think is likely a career energy guy off the bench. I like Grant a lot more of the williams “brothers”. Grant already played big time crunch time minutes of playoff games.

Romeo it’s really going to come down to the shot. Supposedly he can shoot 3s when his finger isn’t ****ed up. Remains to be seen. He can already play NBA defense and has an interesting bag of tricks. I’d hate to trade him.

Waters looked good in limited time, looks like an NBA point guard but he is really small.

Would like to trade/sign a vet point guard, wing, or defensive big.

Shame we didn’t try to get Rondo last summer, because he’s the exact guy we could use off the bench. We have too many low IQ players in the rotation.

Heat and Raptors weren’t playing guys like Brad Wanamaker. We don’t really have a steady hand out there who has won a title or played in huge games and won.

Two guys I’d explore signing are TT and Jeff Teague. TT might be out of our price range but, Teague should be obtainable after the year he had. He’d be a steady hand off the bench.

Teague is a good back up/insurance for Kemba. I think i’ll pass on TT. He’s a good offensive rebounder, and nothing much after that. We need someone with size and can rim protect. Enough with the undersized players already. Lets go big!

In fact that let's us keep Hayward (for Myles Turner)

Hayward + Nance >>>>> Myles Turner

Make it happen Ainge!!

John Hollinger said Kanter, Poirier and the 14th pick for Nance. No thank you.

Is there anything that Nance is really good at? I've rarely seen him play and looking at his stats, nothing really jumps out.

He is a decent role player with no skill set that stands out. Definitely not worth the 14th pick

Yeah, that's my take as well.

Man, I wish we could get his dad in his prime. I loved watching Larry Nance play.

he has decent quickness to guard smaller players on PNR and shot blocking. he rolls to the rim and is a high level finisher. He also has a face up jump shot with what I believe would be a respectable 3 point range when encouraged by Stevens. At least easily better than Their, R Williams and Kanter at shooting.

You cant go with stats because it gets so affected by him being on Cleveland. Just look at K Loves stats before and after Cleveland. Pre-Clev Love stats have him as a HOFer, since Cleveland he looks like a bum.

I think Nance would flourish in Boston. especially when we save him from Basketball purgatory.

BUT NO, I am not giving up pick 14.. 26 maybe, but definitely 30 + 47.

Playing off some recent rumors

Hayward, romeo and #30 to Spurs.

Aldridge and #26 to Toronto

Murray, powell, Ibaka s&t to boston.

Spurs get a star to pair with demar for another year.

Toronto sheds 2021 salary and does a solid to Ibaka. Gets a pick for their efforts.

Boston adds a potential starter at pg adds a 6th man and the ideal center.

Kemba/murray
Smart/Powell/edwards
Brown/GrantW
Tatum/theis
Ibaka/Kanter/timelord

Still have pick 14 and 47 and mle to round out roster.

It all seems pretty fair but aren’t San Antonio pretty high on Murray ?

I think so, but they also really like White as well, who is locked up for alot less.

IMO White has the higher ceiling but Murray the higher floor.

If there is any Merritt to the rumors that the Knicks want to trade down.

damn I would love to offer Kemba (from NYC) and get him off our books and the 14th pick and get their 8th pick and Mitchell Robinson..

I know MR is a lot like R Williams but bigger. but getting Kemba off our books, and being able to draft Haliburton/Okonga or Vassell (get a PG later)

If they refuse to throw in MR, then just Kemba and 14 for 8.. NO MORE little pgs with BIG contract = victory for me. Plus Kemba to his home town team = less of a PR issue IMO.

agree? disagree? or just shoot me??

A big NO on Nance! The guy is only 6’7. We need a legit big that can defend the rim.

Why not have both? I guess we'd have too many bigs if we retain kanter though. I like Nance, a young energy big like Kanter while not as good, I think he's like a spark plug. Not comparing him to Harrel as far as skill level, just like his energy, think Nance has some of that.

With that said, he's not at the top of my list but we're talking guys that may be willing to take little money. (I don't even know his FA status TBH)

Getting a legit defensive big is top priority. then a dead set shooter off the bench, or someone that can score on his own off the bench. We don’t really need him. We have Theis and G.Will that can do what he does and cheaper.
