Probably. Not sure why but whatever. It's not like he's doing any harm.

Yes. People forget how important UD is to the team. Yes, he doesnt play big minutes but he also gets to wear a jersey in practice, foul people, push them and talk to them as a player and not as a coach. A few years ago, I remmber asking several players on team, if they thought UD would retire, before I could finish, they were saying how much they push to have UD around and ask him to return. He is a leader for us that we shouldnt take for granted.

UD is coming back as a player. He doesnt count much against the cap and he gets 2+ mil which will continue to repay the paycuts he has taken for the team. I can see UD being a Heat players into his early 40s

I agree GT3. I am not worried about roster spots since we have two-way players now plus a G-League affiliate. Young players need to cut their teeth in the minors like Nunn and Duncan. That 15th roster spot is for the OG who everyone in that locker room loves and respects. If anyone still questions his value, go review the playoff's film and tell me who contributed more as a leader on that bench, UD or Vincent/Alexander/Okpala.

I understand that but he takes up a roster spot. That just isn't right.

We can still pay him $2m as a coach to repay him for his sacrifice (not sure how any player's wages can be described as sacrifice in the real world though).

We owe him and its time to pay. The cap hit is not a dollar for dollar and it gives us vet leadership. Head coaches are getting like 5mil+ so paying UD 3mil would cause more problems I think. Its easier to just pay him what we own plus interest via the vet min contract for his years of experience. Thats why I can see him playing into his early 40s.

Not to mention the example it gives to BAM

Can someone let me know what sort of discount's he gave Miami in the past? I get he seems like a good mentor but he was not even relevant when Bron was with the Heat if i remember right

Huge discounts.. he took less money twice, turned down 10 million more from the Mavericks to playalongside prime Dirk, and the Nuggets also offered 10 million more than we did. This was back in 2010. He was on the Mavericks radar since 06 and they offered him more money then as well.

He said hed be changing his DNA if he accepted an offer just because of money. He doesnt affect our salary cap at all, that player on the 15th spot isnt going to contribute anything at all. we dont go that deep in the lineup. Let him take his money his way. Hes a coach and mentor, he instantly brings a vibe and standard that all players know this is how youre suppose to think and act if youre a Miami Heat.

And if you dont act right, you get shipped out of here to a team like Portland, start bragging you finally are playing with shooters, just to see the Heat go to the Finals without you.

UD is a Hired Hand... he doesn't strike me as the sort of fellow that would do nothing, but he is not giving it away either so, if the money is there he's going back, I don't think he likes taking orders though...even if he likes faking he does

Missing the point. UD as a coach isn't the same as UD as a the player. He still is in the locker-room, he is still wearing the same jersey as them. Its very different once he puts on a jacket. UD the player/coach is much more valuable than UD the coach.
