I actually don't particularly blame D. Jones for the collapse in the final two mins. All the creativity our offense had in the first three quarters evaporated. JG literally stopped calling advanced play designs halfway through the third quarter, and our Defense stopped making plays when Carter was taken out. The offensive line has been god awful.
Gettleman needs to go. Solely off the fact that he said he would fix the O-Line, passed on one of the best LT Prospects in the last decade (Becton) for a guy who might have to play RT going forward, after choosing a Running Back @ #2 over the best OL prospect in the past decade (Nelson), and he has arguably made the O-line worse. I really think the next GM should just take Sewell in the top 5 unless Lawerence is there (you don't pass on Lawerence even though you have a guy with potential). I think Sewell is even better than Becton and I loved Becton with a burning passion.
All things considered, I think Jones and Darnold can still be franchise QB's, but they are not getting help from their Front Offices, O-Line's (outside Becton and Zeitler, who will probably be let go since he will cost too much money to keep and his run blocking has been putrid, and some plays Hernandez (who also can't run block) have been terrible.
If we win a few games and end the bottom half of the top 10, I could see the case for Rousseau, Parsons, Pitts, or Chase. Parsons would be #1 (and has been sitting at #2 on my board for a while), Pitts has made an interesting case for the best pass catcher in the draft. Chase however just might have more upside due to his position.
Does anyone want Evan Engram?
