Oh no, with that deadline no longer applying does that mean Hayward doesn't have to opt in and therefore we can't trade him on draft night?

I'm thinking that nothing is a "Go", until After the Draft?

I expect the Celtics to sign Harry Giles to the taxpayer MLE. Still very young and just the type of passing big from the high post that our offense thrives on. Obviously concerns about the knees and he’s not the prospect he once was but there is still a lot to work with there.

The biggest reason he signs here is that he’s Jayson Tatums best friend. Bringing Tatums bestie to Boston is in the best interest of all parties in order to keep Tatum a Celtic for life. Ideally we work a sign and trade with Giles and get B-jelly along with him, shipping Kanter, Poirier and a pick out in the process

The RealGM Trade Machine does though :)

Best part about the stupid finals being done is at least now the NBA reporters will turn to the draft and off season and at least maybe try to get us accurate information on where things stand here.

I really do think the franchises will have enough pressure on the league that they'll settle everything before the draft. They have the Warriors with a top pick and the NBA shattered in terms of ratings. They will want to make sure they have the information on hand to come back and hope that they can maybe re-install some intrigue in the league with a GS vs LAL West Conference Finals next year.

Having them and everyone else go into the drat bind or with their hands tied behind their back doesn't seem right.

Prediction: Among the top 10 listed, only Ibaka and Gallinari will be on new teams on opening night.

That article goes over a lot of stuff.
Way too much NBA details are up in the air.

Hayward's "technical" Option deadline is the day before Free Agency. -- Wherever that happens.
Generally, Free Agency is about a week after the Draft (Nov. 18). -- So, basically, nobody knows.

His deadline to decide on the fourth year of his contract is the day before the start of free agency (originally Oct. 17).

Whole crap, the sixers are at 147 m, 8m over the projected lux tax line with just 11 players and no draft pick figured in. Have to figure they are at 155m min which is 16m over tax, and a payment of 32m to the tax. That's 187m payroll for a 5th seed and first round exit.

I wonder what the tax and free agent expectations are after the numbers are finalized. No team is taking Al on that contract now. Even teams with cap room wouldn't take him for 2 firsts. Such a handicap.

Weren’t we rooting for 139? or am I wrong? basically something like 132 kills the trade market

Yeah, I did hear that we were looking for $139 for the Luxury Tax.
But, they're say that it would have been a lot lower, if they didn't artificially inflate it.

Not a great development for Boston, Philly, or Nets, but at least we aren't the Warriors.

So is this about accurate https://www.basketball-reference.com/contracts/BOS.html?

Before signing draft picks and free agents we are around 140.5 Let Kanter go -5. Semi -1.7 find someone to take Poirier -2.6. That gets us to around 130 but we'd need to sign someone at that point just to fill out the roster which would put us up back into the tax. I'd say a Hayward trade just got more likely. With Tatum to get a bigger deal, this could be our last chance to get under the tax for a long time. I just don't see the upside to Hayward anymore. He's 30 and had a lot of injuries. We will just be hoping he can get back to what he once was, but that was only a 1 time allstar. 30+ million a year is just too much for someone who plays the same position as your two younger stars.
