Bosh would be awesome in today's NBA. I mean, he did win 2 championships and go to 4 finals. But Bosh was kind of a defensive liability on our team, but became a pretty impressive defender on those Miami teams. I think he'd be incredibly valuable in today's NBA.

But I totally agree with you about Bargs. I think he could have developed into a better offensive player than he was, but he was a weaker defender than Jonas was here, and Jonas was a liability in space. I watched almost every Bargnani game, and I can't remember him ever guarding someone adequately on the perimeter. Physically, I suppose it was possible (Gasol was slower but still helped lock down Giannis last year), but I could never imagine Bargnani devoting himself to being a good enough defender.

One of the great fallacies was that Bargnani was a knockdown shooter. In 6 of 10 NBA seasons, he shot sub-35 3pt%. As a 7-footer, he only shot more than 50% from 2pt land once. He sucked then and would have sucked now.

I wanted Bosh and Aldridge and run teams out of the building with the double PF lineup. Then have 1 beefy backup big for some matchups. Make teams adjust to you. :(

If you could mold rookie Bargs to play today's game, who knows how he would have turned out.

I still think they wouldn't have been good enough defensively, but we'd be in the playoffs.

Interesting take...but I don't think Bargs will be able to carry us to championship with his defence. I don't think we want to be a team that score 120 and give up 130.

There are much better defenders in today's NBA for that type of player. Bargain would be a worse player in today's NBA.

Bosh would be an even bigger beast in today's NBA that's not even a question. We spent his entire Raptors career looking for a centre to pair him with. Bargnani wasn't develop properly or have the basketball IQ to become much better. He would still need to improve his rebounding and defense in today's NBA. His skills are still inferior and overlap too much with Bosh.

Bargnani is not a good basketball player in any generation.

He was soft, couldn't play defense and had no desire to get better.

Bosh on the other hand is the perfect modern big. He was pretty mobile, could hit jumpers, get to the line and rebound.

Bargnani's only use defensively was 1 on 1 post up defender. He'd be horribly exposed in this league on that end. Maybe Bargnani would be viable as 4th or 5th best player, off the bench, type role. But not as a top piece like we featured him for so many years.

Bosh is pretty much the prototype modern 5 though.

Once they decided to have Bargs bulk up to play center, it impacted his natural shooting mechanics. With that said, his lack of emotion, passion, heart didn't help his game or endear him to fans.

Bargnani still mentally too weak to succeed. Would've found a way to fail somehow.

It didn't help that they were trying to fit a square peg into a round hole by having him artificially bulk up.

I think through examples of Bargnani and Valanciunas, the team has learned that those things gotta happen naturally.

Cant believe someone that is a non raptor fan actually remembers that pair. Then on top of that, he makes Bargnani sound like he would be useful in any era lol

Bargs would probably not get called for as many travels these days. Probably would be worse defensively though.

Bulking ruined both their games.

Both are mentally weak, so I don't know. I don't see either dominating.

Bosh would have been awesome. Bargs is basically Lauri Markkanen. Low motor, soft players suck regardless of generation.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

The biggest myth about Bargnani was that he was a good 3pt shooter. He was a career 35.4% 3pt shooter at 3.2 attempts a game. Serge Ibaka who isn't really that much of a floor spacer, shoots 36% from 3. With 3.8 attempts per game, he shot 38.5% last season.

The game has changed.. Andrea would have been able to shoot more if he was drafted now. But he'd just be as good as someone like Nicolo Melli who plays about 17mpg and gets about 7ppg. Basically a bench big.
