I think he surpassed the expectations by like 2013 already. I was too young to be a serious fan in 2003, but I really doubt anyone ever expected him to win 4 MVPs in his first 10 seasons.

I feel like this GOAT talk is kind of behind the curve. A lot of us had already declared him GOAT during/after the 2017 Playoffs and DEFINITELY after 2018. His longevity was already crazy by that point and career value ahead of Jordan.

I wonder if 2019 colored some folks' views on his legacy. To me at least, he was the GOAT after 2017 and everything since then has been a bonus.

Isn't there supposed to be another top 100 of all time thread sometime this year?

In regard to goat I feel like the top tier is bron, MJ, Kareem and bill. They are the goats and whatever order is reasonable.

I remember watching this live. This is the lead-in ESPN had to the broadcast of Lebrons first televised high school game. Talk about setting expectations lol

Am I crazy for wanting D'antoni as an assistant coach for the Lakers? I feel like he would be perfect next to Frank.

Yeah I agree, that's the mount Rushmore of basketball. Also, there too much disrespect for Kareem and Bill, especially at the General Board and from TV heads. Jordan fans usually make it about rings but when you mention Bill Russel they try to revert that argument and blame his 'lack of competition' during that era as if it's his fault that he's born during that period, it's silly.

LeBron's NBA Cup MVP is more valuable than either of KD's Finals MVPs. This is the word of the Lord

Yeah but seems impossible he won’t get a job and also agree to be an assistant. There is the poor mans d antoni out there that’s gettable though... ( gentry)

And I don't think D'Antoni want to return in LA again.

Feels prudent to wait on that until LeBron's career is over.

Its happening right now. They do it every three years or so.
Only 7 Players in NBA history have 21,000 points, 5,750 assists and 5,750 rebounds. LeBron has double those numbers.

Do you guys think 2018 or 2020 Bron beats the Warriors in 2015?

Yes. 2015 LeBron was dealing with back issues that disrupted his effectiveness. 2018 LeBron would carve them up.

Maybe I miseed this because I thought I saw this posted earlier, but couldn't find it. Some interesting tidbits here and I'm only about 25 mins through it so far. Dudley is definitely going to be a quality media member after he retires.

Non-Lakers thing I found interesting... When Dudley was talking about "The Last Dance" wondering about who in the current league would be most likely to do a Dennis Rodman "Vegas Vacation", the first name that popped in his head was James Harden. I know Harden is known as a Strip Club legend and is a guy who is obviously living up the single life as an extremely rich young guy, but I still found it a little shocking that he was the first name out of Dudley's mouth.

Yeah it's the first I've subscribed to. But it'll be on Youtube in a week.

It's "three greatest games ever played by an individual" [consecutively] - Lebron G5-G7 of 16 finals. Just recaps the games, but he goes into Lebron's career-long trend (08-present) of playing much better in G5-7 vs G1-4 of a series. He's got the basic box-score data and BPM/GmSc data and compares to Kobe/MJ. Unfortuantely doesn't give hard numbers, just relative improvements of each. Lebron trends up, Kobe stays flat, Jordan trends down.

If you boil it down to simple analysis, it makes sense that it'd play out this way. Jordan's mostly relentless assault regardless of who's in front of him. This gives defenses opportunity to adjust the later a series goes on.

Kobe's similar to Jordan, but IMO has a wider bag of tricks and is better at crazy shot-making. He's probably not going to start at as high a level as Jordan, but is harder for defenses to adjust to.

Lebron we've talked about at length, he's clearly learning > adapting in G1-4 and adapting > circumventing in G5-7.
