Sekou to Orlando?
Orlando calls up and says “We want Sekou.” They have the 15th pick in this year’s draft, which is the spot he was drafted last year.
No need to psychoanalyze, simple question. Would you make the trade?

Absolutely. Then:
1. Trade the player picked 15th this year for another team’s 15th pick in next year’s draft
2. ?
3. Championship

"You've got a promising rookie. We want him. How about we give you the #15 pick in a weak draft?"
No.
No.

Re: Sekou to Orlando?
Sekou has shown enough where I wouldn't trade him for #15. The real question is what pick in this draft WOULD you trade him for? Around 10 I start to think hard about it.

Sekou is the type of high ceiling guy you hope is available at #15. He's shown enough that I think he's still a high ceiling guy.

Although that definitely falls under the umbrella of something I might do for the sake of humor, it wasn’t me.

Re: Sekou to Orlando?
For as many people who are willing to ship Kennard for #14, its crazy to me how many of you think Sekou is worth more than Kennard.
Personally I wouldn't trade Kennard for anything less than #6 from Atlanta.
I would probably trade Sekou to San Antonio for #11 unless the team has witnessed some real growth from him over the last several months.
This draft is weak at the top but its solid from 3 to 12 I think you'll get a few borderline all-star type players... Good solid starters for a decade plus.
Sekou still hasn't shown much and has bust potential with some of the red flags of being dropped by his agency.

The problem with Kennard is he's due a new contract and he has some injury concerns, no one would want to dump him otherwise. That is the difference between the two, one is on a second year rookie contract, one is coming up on a new contract.

Bingo. Kennard is a known, good and bad. Sekou has shown enough that he’s worth keeping around rather than trading him for another unknown draft pick. If the idea were to trade away any rookie who didn’t show enough promise to be kept over another draft pick, 95% of rookies should get traded for draft picks.
