Death Lineup 2.0
The death lineup haunted the league for years. Teams had to adjust to the versatility of the Warriors. Teams had to adjust to them. Made the entire league do it - 3 point shooters, long wings with switch-ability, depth & the death lineup. Now it seems teams have to adjust to beat the Lakers with a powerful Lebron James and elite big in AD surrounded by a variety of role players.
How do the Warriors gain back their edge and what will be their strength as a team to make opponents adjust to them? I can’t pinpoint it just yet.
What’s our Death lineup 2.0 or Strength in Numbers 2.0?

I’m trying to see a way to make the Lakers 3-headed monster of AD,Dwight, McGee obsolete. Most teams will have to adjust to their size — McGee is great regular season BIG.

Re: Death Lineup 2.0
I really don't think there needs to be some shift to getting bigger at the 4/5 position. Dwight and Javale don't worry me one bit.
Davis is a monster, but we already knew that, and Dray has sent him home before.
I'm also not saying we should go into the season with Chriss/Looney as our bigs... but I think we'd be just fine adding Wiseman or an MLE target like Poeltl to those two.
I'm taking a closeout lineup of Steph / Klay / Wiggins / Gallo / Dray to run any all-NBA big off the court.

Rudy Gay, JaMychal Green, James Johnson, Crowder, Oubre, Josh Jackson, Aminu, Ingles. Any of these in addition to our core 4 can be in death line up and are extremely realistic to acquire.
Unrealistic options require trading Wiggins and using MLE/2nd round pick on a top sharp shooter like Gallo,
Giannis, Simmons, Beal, Jrue, Siakam, Paul George, Covinton, Ingram, TJ Warren, Gordon, Barnes(Eww),

Re: Death Lineup 2.0
Adding almost any of the top 10-ish available in the draft would make for a pretty hellish matchup, although it might not be full potency this year. Replace Chriss (moving other up if necessary) with any of Haliburton, Edwards, Avdija, Vassell, Toppin, Williams would make an already hard team to defend even harder to defend. Or add Okoro or Okongwu for even better defense/size/strength.
For this role I like Vassell a lot because he has the deep shooting range and is highly efficient both inside and outside, runs the floor and can finish strong at (or above) the rim, plays good defense, has good size with some positional versatility, and is not a bad passer.
Basically, if you add anyone who can score, they're going to have a lot of room to operate with the attention on Steph, Klay, and Wiggins. Add anyone who can play defense alongside Draymond and Klay and you can shut down an opposing offense and fire breaks off turnovers. So honestly I like our new death lineup adding almost anyone who doesn't suck. Even Wiseman, who would make for not so much a traditional small-ball death lineup, can run the floor and create all kinds of problems on both ends, which benefits everyone else.

Dwight and Mcgee were played off the floor by the likes of PJ Tucker, Covington, Butler, Bam, Crowder. There's no reason to be worried about them. It's worrying about AD and Lebron because they're huge in their own right.
The reason I want Dwight is because I think he'll be able to muscle AD around and give him something to wrestle with for 20 mpg. Plus he's still a solid defender knowing when to rotate. Offensively he's still pretty trash

Dream scenario for a death lineup is
Curry, Klay, Wiggins, Gallo/Thad Young, Draymond with Avdija on the bench.

I never liked Thad Young. Especially as a defender.
Justice Winslow would look good on a closing lineup if healthy.

Why don’t you like Thad young as a defender. He’s really good defensively

Never got the impression that he was making a difference on any team I’ve ever seen him play.
Can’t remember a playoff moment or anything that made me want him on the Warriors. Other than he looks good in the airport.

Here’s the first article I found on his defense. https://www.google.com/amp/s/8points9seconds.com/2019/01/29/thaddeus-young-important-indiana-pacers/amp/
Essentially he covers for everyone and can guard anyone and he gets a lot of deflections. He’s so versatile defensively.

Love all those options at PF to close games with Dray at 5.
May even love Paschall if he makes a leap.

I’ll bow to your knowledge on this one. I was going by my feeling about him. Probably gettable.

Maybe not great but pretty damn good at finishing around the rim and also blocking shots. And Lord knows he changes a ton of shots.

Re: Death Lineup 2.0
Death lineup is why I believe the rumors of GSW looking at someone like Deni Avdija if they keep their pick.
6’9” with the versatility to handle the ball and make plays. Shooting is suspect, but he can develop a decent jumper.
Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, Deni Avdija, Draymond Green to close out games as the death lineup.
That is, if they keep the #2 pick and/or Wiggins this offseason. Otherwise if they trade down, they look at someone like Vassell or even a backup point guard like Haliburton.

If he didn't enter the dunk contests...would you even know the guy?
Career averages....12 pts. 6.4 rebounds...30% from three Those are horrible ...especially playing on really bad teams. Wow.
Gordon...looks the part....but he's all hype and no actual impact.

Re: Death Lineup 2.0
Best death lineup by position.
Curry, Klay, SF, Wiggins, Green.
It comes down to who plays the SF and PF spot. I think Wiggins is excellent at small line up PF.
So who is the best available two way big guard/SF?
I like Jae Crowder as a bench guy that can step in for that death lineup. Draft Toppin and he might develop into the perfect other option for that position.
