And Explosion doesn't even want to attach a pick. It's like we are doing GSW a favor for getting rid of Wiggins.
Can’t look at it like that. Durant was leaving no matter what, so they salvaged a S&T with BKN for Russell to keep the salary slot open.
Yeah, In reality they lost Durant to free agency, so they targeted Russell to at least add an asset to their roster. Then they worked from there.
It pretty obvious that losing Durant, or any MVP caliber candidate, for almost anybody will leave you with a less talented roster.
Durant came to golden state because of a salary cap anomaly. It was never his team and would never get the credit or respect he desired and left in free agency. The warriors still successfully managed to get an asset in return getting young first time all star Russell. He was never an ideal fit and getting a first and wiggins from Minnesota was a nice move.
I think it’s better to look at wiggins in comparison to Harrison Barnes. Wiggins is still a nice size salary that allows for other trades with out giving up Klay, steph, or draymond. But I also think wiggins with such a clearly defined role and playing along such proven veterans will thrive in the Harrison Barnes role.
I really can’t see a horford trade, maybe if he was 2-3 years younger. If golden state is looking for size there’s wiseman one of the safest picks in the draft at number 2, or plenty of talented young bigs in the league. I don’t think horford matches up well with Anthony Davis or lebron particularly well and there would be much better targets for the warriors.
