no he is saying you could even pay a higher price even if you make the picks during your time slot. That can't be accurate. Especially not knowing when teams officially submitted picks. It has to be tied to the time slot.

Agreed but what I'm saying lets say context picks tonight.

Hoffa has until 9:59 to pick. Lets say bish has plans for the next two hours and wont announce both my and hoffa's pick until noon.

Lets say hoffa actually waits till 10:05 to actually time stamp his pick (during my time slot).

Lets say I send bish a list of two guys thinking I don't know when bish is coming back just in case hoffa selected him. When really I'm time stamped at 10:04. Its my time slot and I made the pick and get the choice but now I have to pay #2 salary even though I'm picking in my time slot.

It can't work that way. We wont be getting picks announced real time (maybe some time). People need to be attached to there time slot with the salary.

unless I read it wrong that is what bish is saying which I think needs to be corrected.

If follow my time slot 100% and pick every pick in those slots I should not have risk of paying more if someone had a pick skipped. That could be such a disaster especially with picks not being announced in real time.

Yes. Didn’t mention it in my above post but as of now, no one eligible for the draft can be mentioned in this thread.

Also, the salary goes with the slot not the team. If you are supposed to pick 10th but move up and select 9th due to a team getting skipped you pay the salary for the 9th pick. Players get paid based on where they are picked in the draft.

I don't like that rule at all bish That gives an advantage if a team doesn't want to pick. They don't get the benefit of getting a cheaper salary.

For example I planned my entire salary based off my slots. I now have to wait until the guy picks above me to pick even if he misses his pick to make sure I have enough salary?

Then run the risk of getting skipped as well because I have to wait before you announce to make sure he sent his pick in before me even during my time slot?

Especially with you not being able to always be around to make every selection in actual time you aren't superman and have a life (if we send picks ahead of time slotted I could be way over salary and have no clue just by making my picks in my correct time slot).

Don’t recall it ever happening in the NBA but teams have been skipped in the NFL draft and to the best of my knowledge, this is the way they have done it.

You can definitely argue that it gives an advantage to the team being skipped but it is also a disadvantage in the fact that they will have one less player to choose from. It can be a disadvantage to the team moving up because they have to pay the higher salary but it’s also an advantage because they get more choice in their selection.

Plus, no team will be forced to pick a player just because the team in front of you is skipped. You can wait your full allotment of time while you are now on the clock as well.

This is not to punish the team. It is done for the players benefit. Imagine the first couple picks being skipped and then the #1 overall player drafted getting paid with the third salary slot. The player should not be punished. This is the main reason the salary goes with the draft slot, not necessarily the team.

I understand what you’re saying, but this is the way our draft has always worked. People who are actively online can still make your choice in the proper slot. And if you can’t be here, PM me your top two choices.
