IF IF IF reports are true that he went to a car that just happened to be parked in front of his house with a gun and pointed it at the occupants telling them to move along just because they happened to be parked in front of his house that is inexcusable.

You must be one of his neighbors?

There were no charges filed, why are people acting like this is anything other than a black man in a suburb getting the cops called on him because he was having a party? The cops found some stuff, but clearly didn't have evidence of Beasley having committed a crime (OR THEY WOULD HAVE CHARGED HIM).

Yeah, you shouldn't have a bunch of guns in your house... oh wait we're in America. Also, calling weed "narcotics" is pretty funny.

"Minnesota Timberwolves guard Malik Beasley was arrested Saturday and is facing felony weapons and drug charges in Minneapolis, according to police records."

This kind of reporting is annoying, because the charges were dropped, so clearly he wasn't facing these charges.

Instead it seems that most people assumed Beasley was smoking weed and waving guns at people.

We aren't on a talking head show, so don't feel the need to jump to conclusions based on bits of incomplete info.

This 24 hour news cycle stuff is terrible for us.

IF rumors of hanging with the wrong crowd in Denver are true he’s a risk if Rosas signs him long term. If its long term deal it better be team friendly 7-8 per season IMO

Rumors are rumors and in the NBA there are plenty. Please show me some evidence, otherwise we're just gossiping.

I'm not going to excuse him for either of the potential charges. If marijuana is so important to him that he would risk messing up his basketball career over it that is a big red flag. If he thinks it's OK to point guns at people that is a serious crime. The report I read is the police came around because the people he pointed the gun at filed a complaint. I haven't found him guilty yet, but I'm not going to bury my head in the sand over it.

Read the report it doesn't say Beasley pointed a gun, it says someone did, which if true isn't great, but again where does it say it was him? You're making a leap acting like you know what happened or what he may be thinking based on a police report that doesn't name any names and clearly couldn't be corroborated or else charges would have been filed on someone.

Also, what are these potential charges? They released him without charges, is there a follow up that says there is something pending?

The issue I have is that a lot of people that don't have any inside knowledge of the situation are filling in blanks and the ones they are filling are all negative towards Beasley. Where's the benefit of the doubt or innocence until proven guilty?

The report as far as I recall didn't specify Beasley, but if somebody were to go out and tell people to move along it would seem more likely to be the homeowner than some random person at the house.
As for potential charges the police can always file charges at a later date. I don't know if Beasley is out of the woods just yet.

I'm giving the benefit of the doubt for now, but I'm not going to act like nothing happened. I'm wary regarding Beasley at this time. Hopefully he will be a model citizen from here on out and play great basketball for our Minnesota Timberwolves. If we get him at a discount due to this I'm not complaining.

Is this the mentality that threw Moss out of MN twice shining through you here? or

Oh I see where all your excitement about this stems from.

This example would be your tact if you were giving him the benefit of doubt, KGdaBom. I probablt shouldn't have even bumped this.

Has it been long enough for us to say that legally Beasley is out of the woods?

Giving him the benefit of the doubt is me not immediately demanding his removal from the team. The benefit of the doubt is not disregarding the incident entirely.

My benefit of the doubt isn't 100% faith. If I had 100% faith then I wouldn't have any doubt to give the benefit of.

The incident has certainly placed some doubts. To think it won’t influence his value would be naive. They’ll get it figured out in the end...

Marijuana smoking when it could affect your career is just stupid. Brandishing guns at people because they happened to park in front of your house is something entirely different. I don't know if Beasley is involved with either.

Exactly. If he's guilty of the gun part we may have to just let him go. If the marijuana part it's IMO stupid, but we can work around that. Do you know if no charges will be filed. It's been a pretty long time. I'd guess he's safe at this point.

You see your bias here?

He is innocent until he is proven guilty, so let's start from there.

No charges have been filed and it seems unlikely there will be any, so... he's innocent.

This whole "but if this person did x y z" stuff if a massive waste of time, because it doesn't deal in reality, just what if's.

Nobody is innocent until proven guilty. They're guilty if they're guilty whether it's proven or not. At this point I don't know if he's guilty of anything. That is why I say the if's. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. That is not the same as having 100% faith in his innocence. I don't know one way or the other. There is definitely cause for suspicion. If I were on a jury right now with the information I have I would find him not guilty. I would not find him innocent and that is not how court cases are judged. People are either guilty or not guilty.
