NY in Kemba/ Powell
NY out #8, Randle/Bullock/Nikilina

I don't know if the trade can be reconfigured once the Knicks decide not to participate.

Kemba is 30 and Powell is 29 with both having health concerns. Randle is no prize, but the Knicks can reach the end of his contract quicker than they can with the contracts of Walker and Powell. Bullock can be closed out for just $1 million if the Knicks decide to go that way. Frank has somewhat positive value.

........................2020-21...........2021-22..........2022-23....
Kemba Walker.....$34,379,100......$36,016,200....$37,653,300 - PO
Dwight Powell.....$10,185,185......$11,000,000....$11,814,815

........................2020-21...........2021-22..........2022-23......
Julius Randle.....$18,900,000.....$19,800,000........................
..........................................$4,000,000 - Partial Guarantee
Reggie Bullock....$4,200,000............................................
......................$1,000,000 - Partial Guarantee....................
Frank Ntilikina....$6,176,578............................................

The Knicks aren't giving away their cap space for free. It is even worse than that because the Knicks are actually paying with #8 so other teams can use their cap space.

Absolutely fine with this from the Warriors perspective.

Also NY shouldn't be doing any deal with DAL til they get those picks.

How much filler are we talking? Im guessing Looney is the only filler that salary wise makes sense. Maybe we can dump Smiley’s roster spot.

But ultimately for me it comes down to who is available at 8. If were getting Okoro or Vassell, this is a yes for me. If not, probably a no.

I wouldn't say Frank is an upgrade over CoJo but I would take this deal from the King's perspective.

I see Kemba helping the Knicks next year in FA. Randle, Bullock and DSJ is paying one year of Kemba's deal. Kemba makes NY more more attractive than Killian Hayes?

The celts could take Powell's deal and send wright to the Kings. The framework is then
Kemba for Bullock (not a thibs type of player)+ Randle, DSJ + 8 Take frank out of the deal and put in DSJ- he has no value compared to his 5 mill deal. I don't see this as Knicks eating cap space but get Kemba for three years at 22 mill for the 8th pick

Why not, you get the 30th and an upgrade and save money. I am changing it to reflect Wright to the kings who is the same total money but spread over two years. you just save 15 mill now and get the 30th.

Im okay with both of those guys, but right now I want Okoro / Vassell for their wing defense and would prefer a trade down scenario where we get one of those 2 and a future pick over a scenario where we dont get one of those two and get an additional pick this year.

My point with Okongwu and bey, is that the clets woudll then not make the trade, If tehtrade is contingetnt on whow ever is there at 8, If it is oknogwu why the hell do the celts then add 14 and thies for Wiseman? They need Defense at the 5 not the scoring.

How many games are you projecting a rotation similar to this to win in the 2020-21 season?

Robinson, Powell
Ignas Brazdeikis, Wooten, #27
Barrett, Knox, Dotson,
Ellington, Pinson
K Walker, DSJ

I have their ceiling as 25 games if there is a full 82 game season.

Their floor? Somewhere under 20 wins.

For summer 2021, something like this for cap space with a $115 million salary cap and a high pick since the team didn't do that well in the 2020-21 season.

Kemba Walker...........$36,016,200
Dwight Powell...........$11,000,000

RJ Barrett..................$8,623,920
Mitchell Robinson.........$1,802,057
Damyean Dotson..........$4,000,000
Ignas Brazdeikis...........$1,782,621

2020 #27...................$2,075,880
2021 NY First..............$7,000,000
2021 Dallas First..........$2,400,000

Min Salary.....................$946,542
Min Salary.....................$946,542
Min Salary.....................$946,542

Joakim Noah................$6,431,666
-----------------------------------------------
...............................$83,971,970

Roughly cap space for one Max contract and then they will have the Room Exception.

i have no idea why a Max coontract level player would want to sign with a team that had 25 wins or less in the 2020-21 season and still owed $37,653,300 to Kemba for the 2022-23 season and $11,814,815 to Powell for the 2022-23 season.

****************

I understand that you are unlikely to concede that the proposal in the OP is unfavorable for the Knicks, so my posts are to provide information to the readers who are still undecided and let them judge for themselves.

Kemba and journeyman never went very far in Charlotte.

I don't have Kemba and journeyman being enough to get a Max FA to sign with the Knicks in summer 2021.

Not adding Bullock is a good thing. Paying 4M (plus repeater lux tax) for vet min production is not a positive. Would rather hold onto one of JTA / Mulder / Bowman quite frankly.

I do like Theis though so that is a factor.

Still would rather trade down less or not at all - unless one of Okoro / Vassell are there.

well what or who does? He gets you closer than a team with Hayes at the point. Kemba is not going to do anything by himself, No one is saying is is Lebron, Kawai, Davis, Harden, Giannis, those are the only type guys who make a team move. But Kemba, Barrett if he develops, Robinson stats to look like a place where a FA will sign. Kemba will do more for Robinson and Barrett that a rookie will too.

Zero reason for the Mavs to prematurely dump contracts at the cost of the value contract of the alltime 3p% leader. Dumping Powell at his lowest value is a dumb move anyway. And it wont happen

And get a Theis and bullock, You want the stars to align. My point with Okongwu and bey, is that the clets woudll then not make the trade, If tehtrade is contingetnt on whow ever is there at 8, If it is oknogwu why the hell do the celts then add 14 and thies for Wiseman? They need Defense at the 5 not the scoring.

Then the Celtics should just cut the Warriors out, its not a big deal to us.

That is what I said, GS would be cut out.

Great so if I’m GM, and your BOS GM, GSW isnt in this deal and y’all have 8 and 14. Hopefully Okongwu falls to y’all!
