Re: Wolves and Warriors looking to move top picks
I'm currently fascinated with the 76ers dilemma and I also think that involving the T-wolves is going to be their best shot at unloading Horford.
If OKC is indeed willing to blow up the team (which in practice means, laughably, just shedding Chris Paul and Steve Adams), I can see a three-way trade:
https://tradenba.com/trades/WtXAL-ma_
Horford to the T-Wolves
Chris Paul to the 76ers
Thunder get the T-Wolves first pick, James Johnson (expiring), Mike Scott (expiring), and Zhaire Smith.
The 76ers would become a serious team.
Paul
Richardson
Harris
Simmons
Embiid
If the Paul for Horford option comes to fruition, I hope Presti can fleece Brand into giving up at least Thybulle or Milton.

horford was awful last year...why are so many raptors fans trying to help the sixers?
Horford is old too and plays centre....that could be one of the worst contacts in the nba very soon.

I'm not trying to help the 76ers. I'm trying to figure out what my enemy's next moves may be.
The T-Wolves can absorb Horford's contract. Their young core is locked up for the remainder of Al's golden autumn years.

Tbh idk why so many people are calling him a bust...He looks like he could be a really good player with his Defense and athleticism...he would look good beside OG Anunoby tbh ...But id be down with somehow getting Ball/Wiggins or Edwards if the price was right especially with our development staff we have...We develop late picks in the draft to greatness...Then you see the raw talent Edwards has and think of what we could do with a guy like that

I agree with you that it's not our timetable to develop a new core right now, but I mean adding one strong piece for the future wouldn't constitute a rebuild. Obviously it depends on what we give up, but I don't think it would take a Siakam type offer to get the Warriors pick. With Lowry getting up in years, Gasol leaving, and the uncertainty of Ibaka, adding an Anthony Edwards would be a big move I feel.
I wonder if a Powell/2020 1st rd/2021 top 8 protected 1st rd/2023 2nd rd for Looney/2nd overall pick/Minny's 2021 2nd rd pick can get done..? We can split Gasol's minutes between Boucher in an expanded role and Looney while adding Anthony Edwards to supplement Powell's minutes. Not sure what other teams are offering for those top picks but I haven't heard anything outlandish, and I think Powell's value around the league has gone up over the past year where maybe a team like the Warriors can look at him and say they can plug him in now as a 6th man and help them get back to the NBA Finals. He fits their timeline.

Yea I can't see that happening. If Minnesota were to give up the 1st pick, they'd try for Ben Simmons who'd not only solve a lot of their problems, but is close friends with KAT and D'lo especially if the Simmons-Embiid experiment fails again and odds are knowing Doc it will.
If the 76ers want Paul, I could see Presti milking more picks out of the 76ers if need be such as this:
Philly: CP3, Dennis Schroeder
OKC: Al Horford, Josh Richardson, Zhaire Smith, Mike Scott, 2021 PHI 1st, 2023 PHI 1st(lotto pro.), 2 2nds
For Philly they get out of Horford's deal while adding a much better fit at the point whilst getting a 6th man off the bench in Schroeder who could actually boost their scoring off the bench
OKC cashes in on their assets and they can flip J-Rich to another team for more assets whilst rebuilding Al's value and letting Adams expire plus his last year is only guaranteed for 14.5M.

Idk what people are talking about. This kid is going to be a great pro. If we could get him we could have our future star. Polish up his handles, keep the jumpshot improving and combine that with an offensive arsenal that we help him develop over time, and he’d be a beast.

I agree i think people just think hes going to be a bust cause lack of hype around him and not being deemed that next star But he already looks like hes on a Jalen brown level in college and the sky is the limit with him....Thing is what would the T-Wolves want from us....They want a win now player and im kinda scared to move on from Siakam....Id Move on from Lowry considering his age but idk if Wolves would do that ....
But Edwards and Og together at the wings would be awesome to see especially cause they are both so young and have lots of upside

For ppl thinking Edwards won't be a star...Lets compare some players college stats compared to him
Anthony Davis
James Harden
Jaylen Brown
Jayson Tatum
KAT
Siakam
Anthony Edwards
He stacks up pretty well if you look at some of these players first years in college....He will deff be a star

Only way I'd consider siakam trade is if the warriors threw in the 2021 Minnesota pick

If any season was a time to change the direction of the team...it would be this one. I'm not buying the hype with Giannis to Toronto...so in that case I'd parlay Pascal into a #1 or #2 pick. Anthony Edwards or Lamelo Ball could be a true #1 option in the years to come. Pascal clearly isn't. He's a great #2 or #3 option...but I can't see us being successful with him.
Pascal would look good in GSW and Minnesota.

ya he's not coming here if its only Siakam and FVV. lmao. Raptors fans be delusional just like some fans expecting a finals appearance.

I don't get what the rush is to move Siakam. It makes sense to see where the cards fall in the 2021 free agency before we start pivoting.... or is there something to lose by not trading Siakam now?

I'm absolutely positive that if someone within a Raptors FO meeting ever suggested, with a straight face and in all seriousness, the idea of trading Siakam for the T-Wolves first pick simply because they thought Anthony Edwards or Lamelo Ball may become a "true number one option", Masai would fire them on the spot and have security promptly escort them out of the building.

Well it could be two fold. One is it's clear to most that Siakam is not a #1 option. The only thing we'd "lose" per se is the trade value of Siakam if he continues to underperform.

I'm all for changing the direction of the team. Especially because I also don't buy into the Giannis hype. I'm just not all the way with the top picks in this draft. While the players slotted in the lottery/late first intrigue me. TBH I'd rather flip Pascal for a top or even Lotto next year.
Edwards
Ball
Wiseman
Deni
Obi
Hayes
IMO its such a crapshoot. Ball has the best playmaking chops by far, so you'd think that's his transferable skill. But his offense leaves so much to desire. Edwards seems like the guy, but I get a bad vibe (feeling) from him. Deni looks solid although not excellent for a top pick. Obi would be a big pass from me. Hayes also looks solid, I like that kid. Wiseman is the other guy who I'd think about.

Is his value really going to get lower if he continues to perform poorly as a 1st option? He’s already proven to be a good second/third option type which is exactly what his value is currently.
From the perspective of a team looking to make a championship run like the warriors, they’d be drooling at the idea of having Siakam play beside steph and Klay. Unless their draft pick is an absolute killer from their rookie season, they’d be happy to move their elite prospect for a proven commodity.
