NBA teams are poised for the Bradley Beal sweepstakes, except there is none. Beal signed an extension with Washington and, along with Wizards ownership/management, he wants to see if he can make it work with John Wall and turn the Wizards into a threat in an increasingly deep East. Beal would love to spend his entire career with one team.

Beal reiterated all of that when he joined the “On the Road with Buck & Phil” podcast to talk all things Wizards (hat tip Hoopshype).

“[Playing his entire career in Washington] would mean the world, man. I’m a loyal guy. I want to be here. I’m here. I’ve signed my extension. And that will mean the world to me. That honestly would you know, being able to finish your career in one place? You know, you don’t see that in today’s game…

“My ultimate goal is to win. I want to win and we got to win. And I know we can win. I know it’s a place where we can win and I know it’s a place where we can get guys to come here to win. But we got to go prove it on the floor for sure.”

Yeah, I definitely do not expect Washington to move him unless they get an absolute mammoth deal. Maybe a package similar to what OKC got for PG13 would actually be enough to convince them, but I've always believed both Washington and Beal want Beal to remain there.

Hopefully if/when it doesn’t happen, we get more insight into why specifically it didn’t. If Giannis thinks it’s a short sighted move and doesn’t think the age/injury/$$$ risks are worth it with CP3, that’s okay I guess? If he just doesn’t like CP3 and doesn’t want to cede some control of the team, that’d be really disappointing.

Maybe he (and the actual decision-makers) would just prefer to have whichever players are represented by the ~32m in salary we'd have to send out to get CP.

Yep and, unfortunately, I would lean towards it being the bolded. Giannis seems like the type of person who is stubborn and can be blinded by his pride/competitiveness.

FO and Bud so desperate to hang onto Bledsoe, Rolo and Ersan so that one can implode in the playoffs while the other two hold down the bench.

If CP3 wasn't trying to goto Milwaukee, then why would he do that State Farm commercial with the deer years ago? On the heels of not getting along with Harden.

I think BW works for LeBron, who wants LA to somehow get the banana boat tandem together. :reporter:

Maybe... Maybe Giannis doesn't trust CP with respect to his close relationship with Bron.

The target # for outgoing salary in a trade in which we take back only CP's salary is 33,087,051.20, so technically you could make it work with Bled, Ersan, DJ, and Robin. Offer that and 24 as a best and final, imo, and don't wait for them to say no while you pursue other upgrades.

I think Paul would love to come to Milwaukee and it'd be insane to not explore it, but it just seems unlikely to me that something reasonable could be worked out. My hope is that someday we'll make a move as obviously good as trading RWB for Chris Paul and a bunch of picks (and, if we're extra lucky, we'll get panned for it like OKC did).

Didn't listen to the Windhorst pod. Maybe I need to now, to try and read context.

Could be so many things. Giannis doesn't want him, CP3 doesn't want to come to MKE, owners don't want to pay massive lux tax for CP3

CP3 trade would definitely be ownership showing Giannis we're willing to spend what it takes.

But if this issue is Giannis doesn't want to play with Paul, it could put us in a tough spot since he might be the biggest needle-mover available.

At least unless Giannis is willing to sign the extension and the issue is more building a dynasty long term as opposed to going for it the next year or two.

Multiple sources have emphatically said Milwaukee will not look to trade Antetokounmpo if he passes on the extension. Instead, the Bucks will try to improve their roster and use the next year to show Antetokounmpo why he should stay.

Waiting would give Antetokounmpo maximum leverage over Milwaukee over the next 12 months. If the Bucks are willing to add to their payroll to improve the team -- something ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski has reported they are -- Milwaukee could chase a significant upgrade in trades (despite being short on prime assets).

Honestly there are a bunch of options I'd favor over CP3. Testing Houston's resolve on Harden is one of them.

I remember the days of Giannis saying things like that (Beal comments). Seems like just yesterday.

So Giannis not signing this offseason could work in our favor. The teams chasing Giannis could hold back on adding salary in hopes of signing him, allowing us to be one of main players in the trade market and potentially adding more value to our (potentially) Giannis-less draft picks.

Bled, Ersan, DJ, and Robin is my offer to OKC for CP. They can flip Bledsoe for picks. I think the market for CP is vastly overrated. How many teams would take on that contract in this environment?

NYK, PHI, MIN, LAL and recently ORL in addition to us, have all been linked to CP3 the last few days.

Remains pretty clear to me that Giannis does not want CP3. Think our best bet for keeping Giannis is a collabortive effort on roster building. All the leverage is his. Hopefully that doesn’t mean Thon and Damien Inglis reunions.
