Another Idea -

How about a sign & trade for Gallinari?

we send out Kelly or Iggy + 2027 second round pick
Get back
Gallinari on a 20 Mil 1 year deal

On offense, He's the ideal stretch 4. Elite shooter and just overall great scorer.

On defense, You pray he'll be decent enough. Might need to upgrade the defense in PG position in a separate move, or hope Vincent is legit.

Not exactly sure, but I do not think it will be an immovable contract. I will also keep throwing in the idea of going after Dennis Schroder. Olynyk and the Heat 20th pick for Schroder and OKC 25th pick. Nunn gets a mentor in Schroder and Bam gets a body guard in Ibaka. Defense improves and offensive improves. Jimmy along with Bam can now also focus more on offensive scoring.

PG: Schroder - Dragic - Nunn
SG: Butler - Herro
SF: Robinson - Iggy - Crowder
PF: Adebayo - KZ
Ce: Ibaka - Leonard

Schroder is excellent. I don't know if Miami could make those additions, bring back Crowder, Dragic, and Leonard, and still have space to go after Giannis.

I'm not worried about Ibaka being a movable contract; I just think he'll command big money and Toronto will be willing to pay because Gasol is on his last legs and they have no other bigs.

I do not know what Toronto got up their sleeves, but they need to remodel that whole team and make it centered around Siakam. Should be looking to make a move for a second or third go too player if they believe in VanVleet

That is wayyy too much for a sign and trade. Just give them Kelly. I know I am in the minority. I rather have old Aldridge. At least Aldridge look like he may block a shot and play defense. But I do not want a high volume shooter with Bam, because it gives Bam an escape goat to not shoot. I want Bam to be shooting the rock a lot more next season. He average 11.6 shots a game in the playoffs, I want him averaging 14 to 16 shots a game.

Just to circle back on the Harden idea,

A friend of mine works in the Rockets organization and said that this guy (Harden) is the opposite of what we have in the locker room right now. He does not do community events, he does not hang out with other players, he has his entourage he surrounds himself with and is basically a loner. I think chemistry was a huge factor in our success last season and I would be very worried about bringing in someone like Harden.

Ibaka is likely to get a one year golden handshake from the Raptors this off-season. Word is that some mega-contract is likely in the works, heaping something like 26-30 M on him, to keep the Raptors max slot intact for 2021. On a multi-year deal elsewhere, he'll likely demand the sort of money that can compromise the cap space for a run at Giannis. Cap-wise there are only three realistic contenders at this point for Gianni. The Heat, the Mavs, and the Raptors. All others, either don't have the roster or organization to entice his interest, or would rely on an unlikely sign-and-trade with questionable assets.
I could see that, although that'd be mighty risky on his part given he'll be 32 when he'd get his big contract. The other things is, I don't know if anyone else has enough room and desire to offer him big money this offseason. Teams like the Clippers, the Rockets, the Celtics, Golden St.... they could all use him and you'd think they'd be willing to give him 3-4 years at $15-20 million per.
There is something called Salary Cap so No those Teams can't sign him.

pass on Gallinari
pass on Schroeder

seriously doubt Harden's leaving anytime soon.

I'm intrigued about Aldridge but not enough to give up much. Aldridge's DRTG in 2015-16 was 99. It's 112 this season, which would rank 16th on our team (when all players are included) together with Nunn & Herro. It's not very impressive. His 3pt% was better this season but only on 3 attempts per game. I am not convinced this one season makes him a shooter. His career average is still less than 32%.

I wanted AD a lot, but that's not going to happen.

There are other players who can play the 4 who are good at 3p range and can play defense. Bjelica, JaMychal Green, and Jerami Grant are likely much less expensive than Gallo or Aldridge. JaMychal Green is the one with the best defense, but both Grant & Bjelica are better than Gallinari. Bjelica & Grant are free agents. Green has a PO.

Moving on from the statements made by Masai Ujiri at the year-end press conference, where he said that the priorities were preserving the max slot for 2021, re-signing Fred, and stocking up on bigs given Ibaka and Gasol's free agency, and mapping that onto how our salary structure looks like, a reasonable guess would be something like:

Re-signing VanVleet in the 20 M-ish per year range.
Re-signing Ibaka on a monster one year deal.
Trading Norman Powell (who has a player option at the end of 2021) in a bundle for either a big or to simply move up in the draft while signing an inexpensive big.
Shedding Patrick McCaw and Stanley Johnson because of their 2021 capholds.

Starting this year with:

Lowry
VanVleet
Anunoby
Siakam
Ibaka (or a Maxi Kleber-like guy, acquired via trade)

and a 2nd unit of:

Terence Davis II
Matt Thomas
Paul Watson
Oshae Brissett
Dewan Hernandez or Chris Boucher or Ibaka (if we land Kleber).

This guarantees a fun, competitive year, with more playing time for Davis, Watson, and Brissett to develop.

A trade I'd like and that I think would make sense for both parties would be a Powell + Boucher (sign and trade 6.5 M on 3 years) + a 1st round pick for Kleber.

Then in 2021, Lowry turns over the reigns to Fred and we shoot for Giannis.

VanVleet
Davis
Anunoby
Siakam
Giannis

Giannis surrounded with athletic, high-IQ shooters and elite defenders. That would be something.

Does Toronto think they overcome their problem wit attracting free agents? Its the reason they sold their soul for one yr Leonard.

I'm not sure, to be honest.

As a lifelong fan who was 15 yo when the Raptors came into existence, I think it's fair to say that I've never sensed as little concern for the difficulty of attracting free agents as now. But again, this is in the context of a championship that is still vivid in everyone's memories, half a decade of winning regular season basketball, the growth of the international talent pool that is comparatively indifferent to the question of playing in the US or Canada, and also, the focus on Giannis, specifically, in which there is widespread belief that there is a sufficient degree of trust, mutual recognition, and history between the Antetokounmpo's and Masai to reel him in.

A ring-less seasoned vet, still putting up 19pts & 7rbs, wld be valuable in another deep run.

So Christian Wood started an IG live stream asking where he should go next year, before abruptly ending it.

That's the kind of Hassanesque behavior that means he's a no go for us. Maturity issues have followed this guy, there's a reason he has bounced around despite his obvious talent.

The only reason Harden might be at play is because the owner has lost a fortune because of covid. Aren't basically all of his assets in the food and service industry which has tanked? We might need to take Westbrook or send him to a third team. Draft picks mean nothing to us since we are always in a win now mentality. In theory as long as we keep Bam and Butler to go with Harden (trade Westbrook) we would be foolish not to do it.

I have no doubt we'd be interested, but he's going to have suitors that will be more financially flexible and willing to give 2-3 years. Hard to see him coming.

He'd be an ideal Crowder replacement, but his contract is likely to be more than Jae's regardless. If he wanted in on the culture though, I'd happily give him a big 2yr deal with the 2nd year a team option.

Harrell is a weird one. He was chit in the bubble, but had a very good season. Still, the fit with Bam is gross - don't think he makes a ton of sense given our needs.

About Grant - I just Don't see why he would settle for a 1 year deal. It makes no sense for a guy his age with his earning history.

The hope there has to to be that we already have our Grant on board - his name is KZ okpala.

I'm a fan of okpala (especially his defense), but he does not have a reliable 3 pt shot. Nor does he hit free throws reliably. Grant does both.
