McCollum trade proposal
Curious what this fanbase thinks.
I was right about 3 point shooting. I expect to be right about Tacko Fall. Some coach will figure out how to use Tacko Fall. This movement towards undersized centers will sweep ng back. Back to the basket scorers will return to the NBA.

More like what would Damian Lillard think of this. I cannot imagine he would be pleased with exchanging CJ for Wiggins so that #2 would have to have a pretty immediate impact. In this draft, maybe that's not a great bet to take. In general it seems the wrong direction to take for this team at this time, so while 2021 could be a great pick it would be a GM really betting on himself to turn the picks into something great sooner rather than later.

It's an interesting proposal, key for me is would we use the #2 pick or trade it for a different SG or go Trent JR and upgrade PF with a combo/guard backup?
I do wonder why/if GS would consider this for CJ, they already have Clay and Steph, doesn't an upgrade elsewhere make more sense?

I’d do it in a heartbeat.
POR needs to take a risk to reach the next level and this would be worth it to me.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

I would do that in a second but there's no reason the warriors would.

Re: McCollum trade proposal
I definitely would. The guy I would target this draft would be Okongwu so with the #2 trading down and picking up an additional asset should be possible.

Yep. I would do this trade and also target OO. Probably just a simple trade down of #2 for #5/#6 and a future 1st.

Re: McCollum trade proposal
Like mentioned warriors have no use for McCollum imo. This trade isn’t ideal but could sell dame on getting more trade assets. I think you could make an enticing offer to the bucks at that point with some combo of the picks, Collins, simons, Wiggins, nurkic, Trent

Re: McCollum trade proposal
Here’s one that could be very high risk, high reward.
Blazers out: McCollum
Blazers in: oladipo, Griffin
Pacers out: oladipo, lamb
Pacers in: McCollum
Pistons out: griffin
Pistons in: Ariza, Collins, lamb
If oladipo and griffin aren’t healthy, it fails miserably but if they are then they have a lot more upside than the current team.

It doesn't matter what fans would do. Thankfully, Blazers organization is run a lot better than its fans would do.
Why would Blazers trade one of the best players in basketball and get nothing back? A second pick is a gamble that usually doesn't yield a player as good as CJ. The problem isn't the 2nd pick. The problem is Wiggins is overpaid at the MLE and his contract is $30M+ per year. The best case scenario for Wiggins is he develops into the next Rudy Gay, a physically gifted player who started his career as a lousy teammate and matured into a good teammate. Personally, I would bet against Wiggins ever being useful on a good team. Rudy Gay was always good on defense. Wiggins doesn't work hard and he just doesn't care.
Blazers could get Rudy Gay from Spurs for nothing. Why would we ever consider taking Wiggins and his contract? Spurs would jump on Ariza for Gay, the problem is I'm not sure Blazers would want Gay's very reasonable contract. I'm convinced Blazers want to stay under the tax next season.
The only way you could entice Blazers into trading CJ for a 1st or 2nd pick in the draft is if Blazers didn't have to take back any salary other than from the pick. This would be a speculative move that could be hedged with an opportunity in free agency. This season is unique in this regard since Blazers current payroll is approximately at the salary cap. So, Blazers can create cap room for a max player by subtracting a max player.

I also do that quickly. McCollum is more valuable than Wiggins for sure, but the #2 pick plus another potential lottery pick? No brainer.

This is much closer. I think the answer should still be yes for Portland. As others have said, try to trade down for OO, and it becomes CJ for Wiggins, OO, and a future 1st.

Re: McCollum trade proposal
CJ for Wiggins and #2 would be an incredible move in my opinion. I'm okay with the idea of moving down for OO and other assets but I'm not 100% convinced that Wiseman isn't a lot closer to LMA or Chris Bosh than DeAndre or Whiteside. OO screams Ben Wallace to me.
