Maybe his injury wasnt technically career-ending, but Luol Deng did get hurt badly enough were he was essentially an unplayable player for the entirety of his 4 year contract. I'd be fine with the NBA allowing for some salary to get cleared off of the books if a guy misses 2+ seasons of his deal due to injury. Because that's just bad luck and theres nothing teams can do to control it.

Sure hope we're putting a similar application in for Ryan Anderson then...

Because Deng can't play in either of the next 2 seaseasons me due to that injury

Keep living off the past though.
only 7 teams back then during the PEACH BASKET ERA thats why it was easy for them to "dominate" LOL!!!! none of them old celts should be on the 50 greatest and its time to bump off russell, hondo, cousy, and all those other unathletic farts off the list. Cupcake Era celts like tatum and walker are better than any of those old celts
You do realize that the 5 Minneapolis Lakers rings came between 1949-54.
Celtics won their first in 1957......
If the 60’s were so easy, then why didn’t the Lakers win any titles then? Even with Wilt, Baylor, Jerry West

Celtics had more $ and a team full of hall of famers, even the bench...i wouldn't count mpls 5 nor bos 11 because that era was easy or weak, simply cause there weren't enough teams compared to nba/aba mergerAussieCeltic wrote:cycl0nus wrote:IgorK wrote:

What if in 50+ years time, the league has expanded to 60 teams. Do we count the current era's titles or not? People like you saying this is a slap in the fact to the guys that paved the way for the players we have today.

they can be counted in historical context and if it turns to 60 teams, ill count it from an era wheres there's 40-50 teams

Is the 25 games limit per year or since retirement? If another team want to screw the Lakers, they would sign Deng and make him appear in 25 games?

Oh cool, I was wondering if a Celtic fan was gonna challenge logic and reasoning. Appears we found one living in a river in Egypt.
Been a lurker on this site, but I’ve seen people refer to your post as “Cherry Picking”. Do yourself a favor and google when Wilt joined the Lakers. I’ll help ya, it was well after the Celts won all their Mickey Mouse 60s -“*championships”.Well done winning 9 titles in the 60s (ewww) but let’s be honest, still collusion to the max and competition was nowhere near the level after the 80s onward. 9 chips in the 60s? Really?
I didn’t want to respond to the post and waste energy but ah well. Since we went down that road

11 titles in LA is better than 17 Mickey Mouse titles mainly won when the NBA wasn’t really even a national thing. You take any team from the 80s and they would murder any team from the 60s.
11 titles won in LA in the modern era, while y’all living on “success” from 2 generations ago

League should definitely approve it. IDK about CP3 but I think it definitely opens up the possibility of acquiring a legit 3rd star.

You're trying to rewrite history to suit you. The 60's titles count just as much as the titles today, just like today's titles will count just as much in 2080 no matter how much the league changes or how much better the players get. I actually don't care about who has the most titles. I just hate people saying that the 60's titles don't count because of when it was. It's disrespecting the players like Bill Russell who paved the way to make this league what it is today.
We all know the Lakers have been the best team since the 80's. You're trying to rewrite history and magically start it at an arbitrary point of time when the Lakers have been the most successful. See, the official record books and anyone who has any clue about the history of the game won't do that. They will acknowledge (and rightfully so) the 60's Celtics, just like they do the 50's Lakers. Maybe I'm old, but people like you are just fair whether fans who only log in when it's convenient (eg after a Lakers championship). Please stay logged out from now on.

The request is only invalid if he played 25 games after being cut. So this could still be approved even with Deng playing afterwards
