do we really want 26 & 27 ? these picks at the end of the round mostly fail. i'd rather use 27 to move up than gain another one of these. plus there's speculation that some of these late first round picks will be for sale this year because of the pandemic and teams wanting to save money. you might not have to move back to get one.
Mock makes no sense as it has Killian falling past us.

but it does because in the mock we trade back from 8 to get 14 and 26

We dont make such a trade just for a late lotto pick with Killian there do we?

I think you do want 26+27 for more ammo to move up into the late teens or early 20’s. I’d think it be appealing to other teams to get 27+38 in exchange for their pick while we still holding onto 26. With the cap definitely dropping, I’m sure teams like the Mavs and Heat want to keep their books clean for the Giannis quest of 2021. Or the Nets might be an option cuz they need more cash for Joe Harris. I’d say it be a pretty successful draft to walk away with Kira, RJ Hampton, and maybe Isiah Stewart. My gut tells me if Okoro isn’t there at 8, that this trade is definitely in play. Kira just seems like more of a Thibs type of guard than Killian Hayes.

If you look at all the guards Thibs teams have had success with they look a lot more like Kira Lewis than Killian Hayes. So even if Hayes is there, I don’t think it’s implausible for us to do this deal.

And then it makes no sense again when you see that Detroit traded 7 to get 16 and 46.
And no, I don't see Anfernee Simons as a difference maker vs Tremont Waters in the deal.

Why would the Knicks trade down from 8 to 14 for an additional pick at 26? Why do these writers think people are a stupid as they are to believe the stuff they write?

Wasserman's been saying for a while now that NBA scouts don't view Hayes in the same light as people online.

yeah, that one stood out to me even more. the pistons just gift the blazers their pick basically.

i mean, if you're confident one of the players you want at 8 will be there at 14... and you get to add 26 to your 27? i'm with it.
kira no longer a "reach" at 14. and if not him, comparable prospects on the board, even at his position.
with 14, 26, 27 you could walk away with some combination of
14:
kira, hampton, poku, maxey
26, 27, 38:
where do i start? bane? bolmaro? woodard? riller? joe? tillie? some high on pritchard? word. shoot your shot.
i guess for me, i see lots of chances to get comparable guys with reasonable expectations for production. the best shots at high ceiling are a little higher than even 8 here. it would depend on who's slipping to 8, but i'm def listening to this trade back offer if boston wants okongwu (who i like too) really badly.

but if you could just buy a pick, as they say you might be able to this year because of falling revenue, you wouldn't have to make that trade.
i also think teams will be hesitant to pay two guys in the late 20s that guaranteed money for 4 years for the same reasons. so trading both to move up to 22 or something won't be worth it financially to most teams.
i could see a trade back to get something like 12 & 16 using 8 & 27. but just using 8 to get 14 & 26 ? pass.

my guess they just draft Obi. They know he can play right away and he will be productive on the offensive end.
