I need to find out more about smith but in their matchup, Oturu ws eating smith alive, Oturu outplayed almost any center they put in front of him

Right, but that's not how you should judge Bigs for a draft.

Kaminsky probably would have eaten Bam alive if they matched up in College. But one is made for the modern NBA and the other is in no-man's land in term of his skillset.

Smith isn't proven, but I could see him becoming a Myles Turner type big that helps your spacing on offense and provide length, rebounding and shot blocking on defense while being able to switch on to smaller players.

Oturu best case scenario is..what exactly?

Combination of Size, Mobility and 3 point shot makes him #1 on my list. Can't see any other option that comes close at #20.

He'll, he'll probably won't last to #20 either. We might need to move up. Maybe Nunn can get us the # 17? I want him next to Bam

Yeah I like smith, his 3pt shot look more fluid than oturu, his mobility is pretty good considering the long legs and tight hips.

They are different players I like them both. Both are good defenders, smith has more range, oturu more post skills. Otturu might be better rebounder too.

I really hope whoever we get help on the glass, our centers suck at rebounding, it was embarrassing against Lakers, I want a dominant rebounder

Another player I like a lot is xavier tillman. Tuff talented defender, though his 6-8 height concerns me a bit against lakers

With his post skills, rebounding, defending and shooting poential, Oturu compare to a poor man embbid

Smith have a more fluid shot and possibly better perimiter defense

Oturu is more talented iso scorer, stronger inside defender and rebounder

Both of them can block shots well

Oturu only ncaa player with 21 and 11, first in shot blocking with smith very close 2nd, and 1rst in rebounding, 2nd (big) in scoring. Gives you an offensive and rebounding option without sacrificing defense similarly too embiid, though embiid is a much better player

Smith is a good fit for modern nba as a 3 and block big like miles turner

Look how good he moves, look how he go after the ball on defense, i mean, this guy looks like Heat culure player.
I like his hands and footwork. He can dunk on anyone and shot the ball.
Oturo's jumpers may be smoove but i think this guy is the better package for WHAT WE NEED now. I can't see him last until 20# we might need to move up. Its depands on how bad Pat likes him. We'll see.

I like his skills, just hope he does not get pushed around, the finals showed ys clearly we need to improve rebounding, tuffness and paint protection. After bam we are soft in that area, LA prob going back to the finals next year, if we plan to fight to get there wich will be more diffocult now thay we are on everybody radar, those weaknesses need to be addressed

Yeah im worried about his size. He looks small in college so imagine in the NBA. He doesn't look athletic to me, and just a one trick pony offensively. He does hustle, very long so he can block shots. Got to wonder who can he defend. Can you put him on Giannis? Is he athletic enough to run with him. Can you put him on Embiid? Is he strong enough or tall enough? He got destroyed by Oturu.

Also just looking at Jalen Smith, you can tell that if Goodboy was a 6'10 black guy, that's how he'd look.

Maybe we should pass on him after all.

I just want a rebounding and blocking beast with size, quick feets, and sweet quick release jumshot

What you think of portis, cousins ?... Can we aquire Portis ? how did jimbo like him in chicago ? Seems like a good fit with his intensity and work ethic..

I wouldn't be mad at drafting Smith. I just have my glaring concerns. In sure Heat will work him out and test him on those concerns.

I think Portis is a ticking timebomb. If you don't remember, he and Mirotic were jawing back and forth during a practice and Portis decided to turn it into a fight breaking Mirotic's jaw. Stay away from Portis, that's just one incident, there's been others.

https://www.sbnation.com/2017/11/8/16626286/bobby-portis-nikola-mirotic-timeline-beef-fight-practice

This happened after Butler left, if you don't know, the younger Bulls players were all friends and they didn't take basketball all that serious. Butler was quite upset with not only the younger Bulls player's mindset but the coach who allowed it to keep happening.

Here's a clip of the young players on the bench dancing while Chicago is fighting for the playoffs in the 2016-2017 season, I think people should be able to understand why Butler wanted out of there and why he may have gotten some of the same vibes in Minnesota although Thibs did what he could do with Towns and Wiggins having the owner on their side.

Nice ! Oturu likes Bam alot, showing Bam respect for his game, and wanting to emulate some of bam bam. It seems Oturu can drible, and he is working really hard on his shot, very nice, he understand what it take, I like this kid alot, hope Heat scout him hard

His stroke looks really good. I absolutely love that he has a high shot release for a big. Its important for him shooting over taller bigs. At 6'10 he has a very big frame great length, its the reason he is already a high level rebounder.

I'm not going to argue with FTH, I do not see this lack of athlecism he sees. The kid is very agile and can finish in the paint strong. He can catch alley hoops easily, but he not a player who depends on it. He creates for himself.

That is a very encouraging video Bish. This could really boost his stock and potential. Its a good sign that he is not a Lonzo Ball type of player. I do not totally buy in the he gotten taller, but gaining strength has potentially made him a better finisher. That was one area I was concerned about. I was concerned over will he avoid taking the ball to the hoop strong and only settle for long jumpers.

They called him the best big man finisher in the country. Also a versatile scoring big who can stretch the floor, midrange and in the paint.

Return to Miami Heat
