Most Wolves fans weren't looking at Curry. It was Rubio if PG and then no more PGs. After the Rubio pick sure maybe some wanted Derozan or others. But nobody was thinking two PGs and anyone claiming they were talking up Curry at 5 or above can either kma or if can be proven real should be handed the GM drafting duties.

I was pulling for Tyreke Evans and DeRozan. Honestly wanted nothing to do with Rubio or Curry. Jennings was my next preferred pg as I saw Iverson in him. At the time I thought a trio of Love, DeRozan, and Evans would take us places. People often forget we had 5 top 50 picks that year. I remember being big on Earl Clark, but he didn't drop far enough.

I saw Curry more as a combo guard that could work with Foye while waiting for Rubio. Searched way back and found this post from me on pairings at 5&6.
Curry-Evans and Flynn-Harden are probably a tie for me. I wouldn't be upset with Evans-Harden or Flynn-Evans either. With Evans-Harden, I would definitely look at Maynor at #18.

I think 1-3 is Griffin, Rubio, Thabeet and then who knows with Sacto. Memphis and OKC aren't definites, but I think highly likely. Memphis might think they can sign Rubio or wait for the offers. OKC is hard to call, but I still think they like Thabo and trying to deal for Chandler makes me think Thabeet is the fit

Think Riley is just talking about Bam not taking an extension this offseason vs. waiting to sign a new deal after the following season when he would be RFA. It would save Heat space if he would wait since his cap hold is relatively low

Drummond and Beal did that for their teams in I think 2016

Exactly what I have been saying... These people that say this draft isn't good are crazy.... This draft may not have the one or two superstars but it is full of depth. Take 33 and 17 to move up into the top 10 and grab another stud from this draft. It should be easy because everyone says this draft sucks correct?

The thing is this draft is very deep and not much difference from 5 to like 20, there will be good players left at 17 AND 33.
Maxey,S Bey, Terry, Pokusevski, Green, Mcdaniels, Hampton at 17?
Reed, Oturu, Jones, Nwora, Joe, Riller,Tillman at 33? Rosas will get to select from at least 4 of these players at each pick.

only way I trade up is if Okongwu is available around 8-10.

This draft reminds me of the 2013 draft...very blurry at the top, but hidden gems throughout that draft;

1. Anthony Bennett
2. Vic Oladipo
3. Otto Porter
4. Cody Zeller
5. Alex Len
6. Nerlens Noel
7. Ben Mclemore
8. Caldwell-Pope
9. Trey Burke
10. CJ McCollum

then you have Giannis (Back to back MVP, DPOY), Rudy Gobert (All-star), Dennis Schroder (Reliable starter), Steven Adams (Starter on good playoff teams)

But yeah, only names to remember from that draft are Victor Oladipo, CJ McCollum, Giannis, Rudy...but you have players that are still in the league with good roles like Tim Hardaway Jr, Gogui Dieng, Kelly Olynyk, Andre Roberson, Mason Plumlee..

So we have to nail our pick and get our Oladipo because guys like Giannis don't come around every draft.

Makes you realise the majority of guys about to be drafted will be below average at best, if they even make it in the league. Kind of sobering.

I think you need keep the “potential” in perspective to the players track record as a teammate, BBIQ, and current fundamentals ... most are not gonna change who they are to become what they are not.

Ricky Rubio was a fine pick, in my opinion, the issue is that injuries derailed his development. He is now an actually solid/good at catch-and-shoot three-pointers, he would have been a great player had he been able to develop with his initial athleticism.

At least you have proof of bringing up Curry's name there. Three cheers to you for that post and for digging it up. But it sure looks like you wanted Evans for sure plus either Harden or Flynn. I don't see you saying we should draft two PGs and one to play while waiting for Rubio with that post. At least not that post.

I wanted Curry at pick 5. Wolves fans were scared of him and thought him of Randy Foye 2.0 and thought he would fall to 18.

If I recall,

There were worries about his size (the defensive limitations of Montae Ellis were discussed).
There were worries about his injuries.
There were worries that he hadn’t played against legitimate competition at Davidson.
There were worries because he refused to work out for us.

Rubio surprised us, because we thought he’d be picked at 2 or 3, after the kid had handled Derrick Rose in the Olympics. But Flynn was a total reach. There is a rumor that David Kahn had a deal lined up with the Bulls who liked Flynn, but he couldn’t trade up to get the 11-14 pick, And they wanted both for somebody. Can anyone refresh my bad memory on the Flynn deal?

The rumor I remember was Sac was gunna trade us Tyreke Evans for Jonny Flynn and James Johnson but the Bulls took JJ at 16 before we could get him

That’s right! Thank you! That would have bothered me all night!

Kahn tried to get earlier picks to get James Johnson, but no one would trade. Tyreke went on to win Rookie of the Year. And Kahn got that second lottery pick by trading Foye and Mike Miller to the Wiz in his first move as GM.

Yeah. Really liked Evans. Don't think it's on this forum but also liked Kittles more than Ray Allen so will admit flaws. That thread was pre draft so after Rubio pick I remember being Curry or DeRozen, but can't say was in 2 PG camp.

I think I wanted Rubio and Derozan. Don’t think Flynn was anywhere on my radar. Once we took Rubio I thought for sure they were taking Derozan or Curry.
