I'm not sure Hayward is worth $25mm a year, at least on this team. That's a tough decision to match that. I think Danny would let him walk..

For free? -- I doubt that.
Danny probably ends up Trading Hayward.

Apologies for injecting myself into this discussion. Just wondering if the plan from Indy’s perspective might be to offer Oladipo for Hayward in a sign and trade (4 years /100) after he opts out. Do you think that’s of interest given it does require a long term commitment, gets the team out of tax and if he’s okay has at least a shot at even being an upgrade?
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

I don't think that Oladipo would work here. -- Maybe in a 3-team Trade?

Take it FWIW but you-know-who from the Hawks board said he heard Hayward is opting in.

Will the sun rise tomorrow? I say yes. Hayward opting in has about the same probability.

Even with the large holdback via escrow, it never made sense for him to opt out. If Atlanta or Phoenix picks a dif player [FVV? Wood?], he’s basically staring at the MLE for next year. No one is risking 15-20M like that.

Plus, if he wants to go to Indy [guessing he does], opting in is the only feasible way.

Just for fun hypothetical:

IF Hayward opts OUT, whats the plan?

-We’ll be at about 107M in cap commitments. Picks take that up to about 113M.
-We could free 2M by using 26 on a stash.
-If Kanter opts out, we free another 5M
-We could non-guarantee Semi and Javonte and trade Poirier and Edwards to free up another 8M.
-Lets put the cap at 115M; think the players get that.

Assuming all moves occur, we’d have about 17M to spend— what would our move be? Wood? Bertans? Try for Joe Harris?

Drummond is way better than Kanter.

One is an all star while the other is not.

Jamaal Magloire was an all star. Drummond is terrible.

Comedian out here being the new reload :o

In all seriousness, if he gets moved, I hope it's not for a **** package. My pipe dream is the Denver or Dallas suggested ideas B-Robb had (Hayward/1st for Barton/Harris or Curry/THJ) but I get that it's probably unrealistic.

Maybe to Houston with a 1st for RoCo/Gordon? Not a huge Gordon person, but it makes some sense for both sides.

Respectfully disagree.

Drummond is 18ppg and 15rebs and the reigning Rebound champ 4 years in a row and two time all star.

Magloire was a one hit wonder.

Drummond would be the big who could put pressure on the rim offensively for Boston and defend the other bigs in the conference like Bam and Embiid.

He’s light years better than what Celtics have now and would put Theis back in his preferred role as an energy big off the bench.

if you are hanging onto drummond being a good player you are stuck in an era from over 10 years ago.

Drummond was traded to the cavs for 2 expiring contracts of players who won't be on the pistons team and a 2023 second round pick. That is his worth.
