If closing down air travel to and from China saved millions of lives when they had a total of 80,000+ cases in entire pandemic, how many lives are at risk when you do nothing the day after the USA has 80,000+ cases in 1 day?

California rules for thanksgiving. I can't believe people want this amount of government over reach in their lives. I'd rather be injected with Covid and take my chances with the virus which I have a 99.99% chance of surviving.

Wow. 8 months in and people still don't get that the main reason for most of these precautions are to protect other people. When did free become equivalent to selfish?

These are private gatherings. I’m not arguing you shouldn’t wear a mask in public. You’re a pine cone if you don’t understand wearing a mask in public. But please explain how singing a song with my family is going to kill someone miles away. And what’s this got to do with free speech?

Charlie Parker has issued more mask mandates.

Explain to me how when I am "in public" and half a mile from another person a mask keeps anyone safe.

Clearly, you won't be cited in that situation as there would be no one around to cite you.

Most likely, the idea is to make the mandate easier to enforce in a discretionary manner.

As to whether this sort of approach is the best approach, up for debate.

Explain to me why you care. It literally costs you nothing.

If you want to bitch about lockdowns or Thanksgiving dinners with family or having to buy food to get a freakin craft beer (Medusa in Hudson and American Dream in Marlborough are fantastic btw) have at it.

But the masks in public places? If you’re too insecure to put one on just bust out your patented fake patriotism and do it already.

CDC knows a **** load more (mistakes and all) than any elected official or ordinary moron (such as myself). Just like NASA engineers that blew up two shuttles know more about launching people into space than we do. So let’s just do what they say when it has zero negative effects otherwise. And not whine too much that there might be scenarios where the rules don’t make a **** ton of sense. That’s frequently how laws works.

We've had mandatory masks for months in Victoria, Australia. We now have had 9 days straight of no new cases (we were topping out at 700 new cases a day) and while I'm not saying that it's the best or most effective measure it's a low-cost one for people and yes I will admit when I'm walking around the streets I pull it down while no one is around and then just pull it up when I get close to someone

Hopefully this can be trusted, in which case let's get this moving.

This is not a situation where we have to vaccinate everyone to save a few, so anything short of fatal side effects or ongoing serious side effects, and approval feels prudent.

Go run 5 miles then run five miles in a mask. Tell me which is easier.

You need to stop with your patriotism, that's racist.
