I'd feel less worried about this wrecking our season if we had a quality running game to rely on. Hopefully they step it up.

I was reassured a little bit by some numbers suggesting that Lovie usually does a pretty good job at slowing down UW's running game. The yards/attempt last week looked on par with like 2 of the previous 4 meetings.

That said, the eye test was not great and I don't think Nakia is anywhere near as good as Taylor (duh) or even guys like Clement.

I absolutely hate Nebraska and Michigan. But it would be sweet to beat them with our 4th string QB.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Game might get cancelled, per Potrykus.

Would have to imagine Purdue game is in question.

I thought college was the safest place for these kids.... if the kids/staff don't stay quarantined, **** doesn't matter. are games cancelled for 21 days now? or just this week, re-test and go from there?

Just this week so far but wouldn't be surprised if there is more to come.

I don't really get how it's only for 7 days, but the players/coaches have to be out for 21 days, and you can't play if you have over x threshold. Won't you always be over the threshold until the players/coaches that are out 21 days return?

I think it is a rolling 7-day average.

So in theory, if they curb the outbreak by next week, they'll play Purdue down 10 players or whatever it is.

This is similar to the NFL where it is "next man up" - assuming your outbreak is done and you have enough players to play the game, they'll play the game.

I'm less confident, of course, that they can curb the outbreak on a college campus with the team. That said, something like 40+ players had already gotten it between June and September so one also wonders how many are left to infect.

The Badgers, not the Big 10, enacted this. They may still cross the B10 threshold by Saturday, but the game is not certain to be considered a no contest.

Just keep infecting end-of-the-bench guys to maintain the "cancel game threshold" until Mertz comes back, IMO.

If the team only ends up playing a few games this season, that sucks if their eligibility is used up on a season like this.

NCAA has said that this year doesn't count towards eligibility.

Does that mean, even after this year we have potentially up to 4 more years with Mertz?

Yes. Granted, he could also declare after next season, too.

Yeah, maybe overreacting to how great he looked against a swiss cheese defense, but there's a chance we only get like 17-20 games of him, potentially zero fans get to see him in person, and he goes pro.

They're quarantined in a hotel so if they get the outbreak under control I think they'll play Purdue, so hopefully they still get 7 games.

Purdue game canceled. 27 active cases (15 players, 12 staff.)
