I had to go back and re-read that too, but then I saw that he was saying "What if he becomes the second coming of Harden (on offense) and ALSO learns how to play defense...?"

The funny thing is if you look at certain stats Harden is good on defense. But if you try to show someone similar places where Curry has good defensive stats it's denied. And those same defensive stats show Klay is not a good defender.

All this means is that stats tell the story that they tell, they don't ever give you a total picture of a player.

Harden's a weird anomaly on defense.

The 10% of time that he has to defend 1-on-1 in the post, he's fantastic.

The other 90% of the time, when he has to move around on the perimeter, switch, pay attention to movement, etc...... he's a complete disaster.
If I don't have anything funny to say, can I still have a signature?

If we are keeping the pick at 2 we are most likely taking Wiseman or Edwards...I like both.

it amazes me how some can have avdija so high on their personal boards and edwards so low.
I get that edwards carries around some legit doubts (like any other player in this draft class and, in general, every player in the draft apart few exceptions) and he's got flaws in his game, but what did avdija show to deserve such consideration in the first place? because he's been playing in euroleague like doncic? That is it. Doncic was way more experienced at certain level and way more developed as a player (and his number were impressive compared to avdija's). the israeli one is a project who'll need at least a couple of years to develop (and it's not certain he will turn into an impactful player).
I'd never invested a top pick on turkoglu. Maybe a 15 and above but def not a top 5 let alone a top 3 pick. At the moment that's avdija' s ceiling: turkoglu.
edwards might turn into a bust (again, like any other player in this draft class), but his upside is higher and in general he has more potential to develop into a higher level player than the israeli one.

Sounds great. I was hoping he would have a long enough wingspan to play some SF, but Wiggins is 7' 0" to his 6' 10". The average is over 6' 11" in the NBA.

Furthermore, if you like analytics, then Wiseman is definitely a specimen with his size, weight, and reach.

http://analyticsgame.com/nba/average-nba-position-draft-measurements.html

What's important to me is how hard a player will work in trying to win. There has to be some motivation for not wanting to lose in their heart and one can't get that just from analytics.

Edwards probably has the highest ceiling but what are the chances he gets there? He’s literally never been on an above .500 team even in hs. He’s lazy and disinterested and doesn’t have a high motor. He’s got all the talent in the world but can he actually realize it?

Deni on the other hand is known as a hard worker and willing to put in the extra work. Has exceptional size for his position and has shown he’s willing to work for his touches and role. It really depends on what you think his ceiling is. Is it hedo or is it Hayward?

Edwards coach couldn’t say one good thing about his game besides “he sets good screens”

But he did go on and on about what a great kid he is..And I really like AE the person because of his honesty ..He flat out said he played like crap at Georgia on the lottery show...Who does that? Love it!! So refreshing in a country that loves to be lied to..

So if we draft and bring him into this championship culture, I’ll at least have a little hope he can become special.

Harden doesn't look like he can play defense even though he's there. He plays fake defense. He's a fake defender. Yet, some say he started to play some D in 2020. I haven't seen enough of it. He bodies his man and gets strips or is able to get a steal. He needs to do more on D, period. Regardless, it would be difficult to have Harden on the Warriors because he's too ball dominant. No doubt he has the moves to get himself open to create a shot, as well as make plays, but he wouldn't fit the Warriors.

Would Anthony Edwards be a ball dominant player if he turns into an All-Star or Superstar? He could be if he patterns himself after Harden. Edwards has been criticized for his defense, too.

As for fit, AE could be like LaMelo and would not fit the Warriors style long term. LaMelo is ball dominant. AE could be ball dominant patterning himself like Harden.

With the Warriors, I think an Obi Toppin (offensive) big at PF or Onyeka Okongwu (defensive) big at C would be a better fit in a slight trade down. Toppin could eventually replace Draymond and play alongside Dwight Howard.

Okongwu patterns himself after Bam Adebayo, so would be a good fit with the team, but the guy who seems to be really moving up at the next tier is Obi Toppin. Okongwu is ranked ahead of him, but Toppin may movie up to #5 or even #4.

He interviewed will on The Jump.

I've seen this a lot and it just is not true...
Edwards has had a strong presence within Holy Spirit’s program since entering the school two years ago after previously attending Therrell. He helped the Cougars win the Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) Class AAA state championship and earned individual all-state honors.

“The school has brought me in and showed me love, so I’m thankful for that,” Edwards said. “It was a better opportunity for me and things have been pretty good here.”

This season, the Cougars are back in championship contention thanks to Edwards, who has averaged more than 25 points, nine rebounds and two assists per contest

So Wisemans been really focusing on mobility and footwork it seems via his IG. If so that is great — he has has a years worth (about) of getting ready for defensive switching and staying low, and moving laterally. If Wiseman in his rookie year can stay with wings on switches then that’s elite.

For rookie year we just need lob threat, rim runner, screener, and outside shooting is a plus. Defensively we need him to be able to stay with wings on switches. If he’s decent at that then it’s a huge gain

Tell you the truth I read it somewhere and it just stuck with me. I can’t even remember where I read it and it did seem very odd that he couldn’t do it in hs because it shouldn’t take much to do that in hs.

That David Thorpe article makes a pretty convincing argument for Wiseman. I'm kind of glad he played so little collage ball because with more data/scouting, we would have ZERO chance of getting him. Remember, back in the day, Lacob going on about the importance of a real big man before trading for an INJURED Bogut. Well my guess is Lacob (especially) loves Wiseman and realizes that super high picks don't come around often.

I'm sure a hysterical, giggling Warriors front office take Wiseman (if he is there) and keep him.

One thing to be careful about with the whole Okoro or Edwards thing is to look at the talent they have had next to them.

Was Okoro undefeated as a senior in high school? Yes. But he also played next to the National Player of the Year who was a Jr. at the time. And when they played against Edwards, Edwards had over 30 and it went down to the wire with awful plays by Edwards teammates and a late 3 by Cooper (the NPOY). Okoro had like 5 points, while of course playing a good all around game which is expected and makes him great.

I absolutely love Okoro as a prospect, he's the exact type of player I usually prefer in drafts since I know he's gonna be solid (just like picking Okongwu would be). But I also see the intrigue when you have a top 3 pick to roll the dice on someone like Edwards.

There were alot of games that Edwards shows crazy talent when things are close, and then he just gets disinterested and frustrated when they start losing. He's clearly got some immaturity on the court in those situations, but part of me understands the frustration when he's trying to be the best player in the country and can't seem to get over the hump when it comes to winning.

I wouldn't be surprised if being on a competitive Warriors team that demands effort and focus brings the best out of him. So basically, i ALWAYS prefer a player like Okoro, but would be happy to root for the high ceiling of a player like Edwards if thats who the Warriors want.

If any of the Lacob’s have a say in who the #2 pick is, we’re so :censored:

Clark Kent Lacob wanted to take a trip to Europe , so Joe promoted him to lead Euro scout ..That landed us the great Smailagic
