I don’t know why people think it’s even in the cards. New Orleans barely had it. Utah has had it for a very long time.

The incongruity of the name with Utah is what makes it so great.

Basically, the Jazz have been around 46 years, and 41 years in Utah. The owner is a a 42 year old who moved to Utah for college and owns a business in Provo, Utah, so he's probably been a fan of the Jazz for a while, I highly doubt his first move is to change the name of the franchise because "it doesn't make sense". LA Lakers doesn't sense either, nor do the LA Clippers (origin of the name was because of Naval Base San Diego), and the list goes on.

This is such a tired topic. Utah has no incentive to change the name of a franchise that has been here for 40 years. It's culturally important, and unless someone is going to offer massive compensation, it doesn't make any sense to change it.

Wow, a lot of people are getting upset over this. I just see it as a fun topic that obviously won't happen, so why not just have fun with it.
My offerings - The Utah Monuments or the Utah Parks (those are the two things that seemed to come up the most when I googled - "What to see in Utah")

like 90% of the team names are nonsense, i don't see why it's a big deal that utah's doesn't match their location. the raptors as an expansion team literally had fan voting to decide the team mascot and raptors won because jurassic park was a huge movie at the time. toronto raccoons would be a much more appropriate name.

Upon completion of New Orleans giving us Brandon Ingram, picks, and cash then names could be:

Utah Venom
Salt Lake Starzz
Utah Falcons
Salt Lake City Boom
Utah Rangers
Salt Lake City Cowboys
Salt Lake City Hustlers
Salt Lake City Jets
Utah Fire
Utah Sting
Salt Lake City Outlaws
Utah Aggie’s
Ingles is cooked.

Maybe but then you’re basically the Nuggets. I like Boom as a nod to mining but to the large military community in Utah.

Utah Warthogs as a nod to the A10’s stations at Hill or Utah Talon.

Agreed, I'm really liking Boom as it can also apply to speed records at the salt flats. Although Seattle fans might think it's too close to the SuperSonics.

Utah Lakers

The name, and the titles, belong in Utah.

The Utah Moon Quakers

They can have a team of only 6'0" players

If you don't get it, don't worry
