I've been focused on the top of the draft in case the Warriors can't get a decent deal to trade down. They may have to give up the 2021 Minny pick in such a situation.

What has happened at the top is finding out both LaMelo and AntMan are ball dominant players who do not fit with the team philosophy of the GSW. It means likely their pick will be James Wiseman.

That said, there are new rumors today of LaMelo not doing well in interviews and workouts. Maybe he has low b-ball IQ. Thus, he may drop out of the top 3. It means another player will rise to take his place. Could that be Obi Toppin?

"In previous seasons, media would be invited to the workouts to talk to the prospects and it was known that teams had worked out players individually. So far, that has not been the case for every workout and interview with every team and, particularly, LaMelo Ball.

In a radio interview 102.5 FM WFNZ in Charlotte, Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer revealed that Ball is struggling in interviews and workouts so far, according to his sources.

“Here is what I’m hearing from the league at large: LaMelo Ball is not performing very well at job interviews. I’ve heard that from multiple sources. He is not improving his perception via job interview. There are people drafting later in the top ten who were not preparing for the possibility of Ball still being around and, I’m not saying that he will be a top three pick, I am saying that I know for a fact that there are teams later in the top ten who are doing more research on him because they no longer think it’s a given he will.”

While the wording from Bonnell is odd, Ball struggling in the pre-draft process in an individual workout and interview is not shocking. On the court, Ball’s complete skillset is best showcased in a setting with teammates. His best skills are his passing and ability to read defenses, neither of which can translate in a 1-on-1 setting. And on the other hand, his jumper may be the area of his game he needs the most work and is an area that would look particularly bad in an individual workout.

Off the court, Ball is not always a charismatic personality. A player that often keeps to himself, even the most gregarious version of Ball in media interviews offers up short, concise quotes.

All of that being said, this is one report on Ball’s workouts and how much all that plays into the thinking of each remains to be seen."

Of course, this could be smoke and mirrors to get LaMelo to fall to #4 or below.

i think the choice should be wiseman, considering the warriors have the wolves probable lottery pick next year pick 4-14, next years draft is full of quality wing prospects but little to no big man, pick up wiseman this year and a wing next year helps both warriors present and future

Take the guy who’s you think is going to be the best player for the next 10 years..This isn’t football..Drafting for need with a prized NBA lottery pick is asinine

In the draft, maximize your talent (quality of players). Then balance your roster / optimize your fit through free agency and trades. Simple as that.

(Caveat: if you evaluate 2 talents in the draft to be equal, obviously you choose the better fit. But you never draft the lower quality player because of fit.)

Heh, I like that, pretty good comparison. Maybe won't put up the flashiest stats but gets it done and does all the small things to win.

My only concern with taking Okoro is, is he the player that brings the team to post-Steph/Klay/Draymond dominance? No one builds a team around a defensive stopper or slasher (or an Okoro or Kittle), those are super valuable guys you add to an existing star core. Iguodala was the key missing piece that allowed them to take that last step to the top, for example.

Don't get me wrong though, I love Okoro and would be really happy if we end up with him. He's been near the very top of my list the whole offseason and he's still there, although I'd still take Wiseman first.

Williams is from North Carolina; both Okoro and Vassell are from Georgia. Given that this workout allegedly took place in Miami, it wouldn’t have taken any of them more the 60-90 minutes by plane to get there. I’m betting that if this took place, it was one of those 3 guys.

Just looking over the draft order and mocks, it is very possible that the Spurs will get the steal of the draft in Patrick Williams at #11. That doesn't sit well with me.
