First, he really wants to see all of his "young core" play with Capela, including explicitly Huerter, which somewhat persuaded me that it's not at all likely that Huerter is going anywhere this off-season. And second, was that Schlenk seemed to still be infatuated with having a chance to see more of Teague. His enthusiasm left little doubt that he wants to be in the mix for Teague's return.

If the price is right - - - Teague gives the impression that he will want a much bigger $$$ payroll hit than Hawks should be willing to meet. He believes that he is as good as he ever was. That means, a high priced veteran. Personally, I don't believe.
Some of the Hawks on our present roster will not return. We must add our draft pick, provided we keep him. Also, Travis wants to add one or two veterans, preferably as free agents. Jeff's payroll hit this past season was $19 million. Half that is twice as much as I would offer.

Interested to know, then, when Schlenk calls to get your recommendation, how much are you going to tell him to go-in to bring Teague back?... remembering, too, that if you do bring him back, you're likely cutting Goowin and his $1.7m loose.

Travis, We can't afford to pay JT what he believes he's worth. Goodwin as shown flashes. If we can Draft Tyrese then we can just forget JT and spend that extra payroll on something else!

Looks like unless Schlenk gets another star Teague is going to another team. Teague stated he doesn’t want to be on a rebuilding team.
“I don’t want to go to a team where we’re trying to build for the draft,” Teague said. “I don’t want to do that.”
Speaking to Scotto, Teague suggested he won’t be opposed to joining a younger roster as long as the team is prioritizing winning over rebuilding.
“I get along with all the young guys. Me and the young guys have strong relationships on most of the teams I’ve played on,” Teague said. “I like to take them under my wing and try to be a leader to them.”
...“I knew Brad since high school, he actually changed my whole life, basically,” said Teague. “Because I had a path that I wasn't really focused on school as much. I played basketball, obviously, but school wasn't my favorite thing to do. So he pulled me into a room at Butler as a sophomore in front of my dad and he basically showed him my grades. I had been hiding report cards for some years. And basically just told me, ‘If you want the opportunity to play college basketball, you have to bring your grades up.’ And my dad not seeing my grades for a couple of years, he was pretty mad about that.
"I had to get my act together, man. Basically got my focus right. And every time we play the Celtics in the past I would tell Brad, 'Hey, thank you for saving my life,' and he would look at me like shut up, whatever man. No, that was a big moment for me. I appreciate it.”... Link
