I'd rather see 3-points for a dunk before I see a 4-point shot from the logo.

You can't have a shot that is worth twice as much as another... we've already seen how having a shot with 50% more has warped the game (once people finally started accepting that basic math). It's a lot. The 3 being worth more than the 2 is extremely powerful. Creating something that boosts it another 50% in value would be wild. Once you have a handful of guys that can shoot 25% from 4-point land, you've created a shot mathmatically equal to a 50% 2-point look. Dame and Steph can probably already do it. Guys would catch up once they started practicing. Imagine watching your team down 15 with 5 minutes left, and they just go straight to the 4-point strategy and miss shots on 3-4 straight possessions. Imagine the guys who would try to draw fouls on 4-point shots to stop guys from pressing them.

I hate everything about it except for one thing: it would be wild to see what kinds of out of bounds plays coaches would draw up to free up a 4-point shooter for a look, when they're down 4 with a second left.

I can already see james harden flopping backwards across midcourt trying to get a 5 point play.

I always thought half court shots should be worth 4. Full court miracles can be worth 5 since they're so rare.

There are two options here.

1) Move the 3pt arc back another two feet
2) Make a half court shot worth 4pts

No need to create another arc

Nope. They'd be more likely to move the 3point line back than introduce a 4 pointer.

Only for dunks beyond the free throw line!

I think the NBA is already recognizing the issues that come along with a 3-point shot. The modern NBA looks more like the WNBA, and watching pro athletes taking long jumpers all game simply isn't as entertaining. I can go to the local park and watch people chuck long jumpers all game.

Move the 3pt line back, would create more spacing too
