The Celtics have offered their three first-round picks (nos. 14, 26, and 30) in trades to try and move up, according to multiple league sources. So far, no one is biting.

Maybe 17 can help move Celtics up? 17 for 26 and 30?

I'd be fine picking at 14 and 17, ultimately.
(realizes we'd take Cole Anthony and Vernon Carey)
or with other outcomes.

Re: 2020 NBA Draft Thread, Part 2
The 2020 NBA draft is as unpredictable as can be. Rumors are all over the place, and teams are trying to trade up, down, or completely out. League sources say both the Celtics and Magic are trying to move up into the mid-lottery using their own first-round picks, and the Wizards are angling to move up from no. 9.

Re: 2020 NBA Draft Thread, Part 2
called it. Danny irrationally believes there's a roster crunch so he's trying to move up in a draft class that doesn't have anyone worth moving up for and if he fails he'll take draft and stashes. It's annoying that he didn't learn a thing from his disastrous 2016 draft, if this report is true, but that's expected because Danny and his hubris knows no bounds. He won't drop dead weight (last year's draft picks) because that would mean he screwed up and was wrong so he thinks there's just no room for more young players lol. I'd go so far as to say he is afraid of having to use the picks because it will once again highlight how atrocious he is at drafting. He shouldn't be. His defenders will defend him no matter what he does and his owner clearly doesn't hold him accountable.

Ugh. I have a bad feeling about this draft. Takes two to tango and me thinks Boston will be left off the dance floor draft night

It would really help if we can get Free Agency somewhere close to the Draft.
All this up in the air stuff, is nerve racking.

Hoping zero. Usually where there is smoke with Ainge there is no fire.

I have no doubt that Ainge is trying to trade the picks. Wouldn't you?

I am sure it is very true. Problem is, like every other draft where Ainge had a ton of picks, no one wants them. He is going to end up drafting 3 guys and 2 of them will be playing in Siberia.

Can see them taking either Hampton or Anthony with the 14th pick, and then trading up and drafting Aleksej Pokuševski, and stashing him overseas.
Very doubtful they trade up in the top 10, but can see them consolidating 26 & 30 to move up.

Yes, the longtime very successful GM is irrationally using basic arithmetic to see we don't have 4 open roster spots.

I say 'Reke Evans.Okongwu is interesting and if he learns how to shoot could be an all-star.
Bam is proof that he can be an all-star even if he never learns to shoot.Okoro's defense is overrated and if he doesn't learn how to shoot could end up being a role player.
I would wager that similar things were said about Vince Carter way back when. That's who came to mind when I watched highlights; the hype about his defense may be based on potential, but he looks pretty polished as a passer and finisher.Patrick Williams could end up being a poor man's Anunoby, or a peak of his career Jeff Green (not talking about his random 40 point games). Other than his vertical pop I think his athleticism is overstated and exaggerated. He is young though.
I was thinking Marvin Williams.
True about Bam but thus far OO can't do a lot of things Bam can do - dribble and pass (but then again coming out of college Bam wasn't great at them either).
I initially thought Marvin Williams compared to Patrick Williams but imo Marvin moves much more fluidly.

Re: 2020 NBA Draft Thread, Part 2
I doubt Danny can move up from 14 This year.
Maybe 26 and 30 will get something higher. Maybe he adds a body to 26 and 30 as well to move up. But it probably won't be the impact player they need. Need some luck with # 14.
