Re: If We're Left With Lamelo.
Maybe this is just me being an optimist, but this is what has happened this week.
-We leak that we are in love with Wiseman and may even trade up for him.
-We also somehow know Melo is tanking interviews before we have even met with him.
Is there a chance we are pulling a huge smokescreen and want Melo to drop? It's not impossible

charlotte doesn't have that sort of influence imo.
lamelo isn't intentionally tanking interviews either. teams must've just thought that his tv persona wasn't actually who he is

If UNCNYC's trade of 2 future 1sts + 8 is there, you don't blink and say yes.
Voted draft someone else but not before listening to offers for #3. Due diligence.

Re: If We're Left With Lamelo.
I’d take Lamelo. The creativity and play making should not be ignored. The biggest issue I have with him (and I think most others) is he apparently can’t shoot very well and I’m sick of offensively challenged players in a league where shooting is at the best we’ve ever seen it. I’d still take him and hope someone can help improve his shot in the way we’ve seen Kemba and Devonte improve theirs.

Re: If We're Left With Lamelo.
If we really want one guy in this draft I think we should be able to get him without having to pay too much. The Warriors fans who think they'll be able to pry away Monk or Bridges AND make us take on Wiggins are delusional. If we are planning on trading up we likely won't be dealing with them anyway.

Can’t shoot can’t defend can’t/doesn’t want to play off ball - can’t play

Re: If We're Left With Lamelo.
If Edwards and Deni are off the board I'm not taking Wiseman, Hayes nor Okongwu. I'm shopping LaMelo and if I don't like offers I'm keeping him. If Avdija is on the board, I'm taking Avdija over LaMelo unless there are compelling offers for LaMelo. But if he makes it past Wolves and Warriors, it means the offers are weak. It's not a good sign if the Warriors especially can't get a piece for him.

Re: If We're Left With Lamelo.
Which prospect helps us win more games?
I really don’t see a way Lamelo falls to us.
I would take him at 3 and just hope he grinds and gets better. We need extra play makers on this team and I think he would boost the value of the rest of our cutters (Bridges/Martin/PJ/McDaniels).
I don’t really like the free throw percentages that get tossed around as a way to say this guy can shoot/this can’t bull because it’s inconsistent.
Lamelo is a 85% free throw shooter but can’t shoot and won’t shoot better. But Wiseman or Deni its a direct indicator?

Fortunately, free throw percentages aren't dependent on shot selection and you don't have to shoot off the dribble

he can take that jank form and shoot free throws all day. no one cares. is he getting that off against nba defenses without his habit of pulling up at 35ft when he sees people getting ready for him? very different story. he's gonna have to rework that form and HOPEFULLY those numbers stay the same while his shooting from the field improves. and it'd be easier to be confident if he wasn't already talking about how he's not willing to do it.
a big with a generally poor % at wiseman's age isn't a big deal and deni's numbers are a legit questionmark because it'll define the kind of player he can be in the nba. and if you want playmakers, there are safer bets in hali and hayes - ball is the biggest gamble in the draft for a reason.

Re: If We're Left With Lamelo.
I've been bullish on the Hornets keeping the pick, whomever he is, but if they do draft Ball and trade him, it'll be on a pre-arranged deal that we'll not hear about until it's announced on draft night. Too many moving parts right now to consummate a deal. Really, it's all a crap shoot. Nobody knows anything.

Lamelo is garbage. The Hornets should not be even looking at him and it appears they are not. Thank goodness

Lamar quoted saying he wants melo in Detroit or New York. Avoid this circus. Just take hayes, deni or okongwu.

Ball's shot is far too broken to ever be repaired.

I'm hoping for more in a trade back, but if nobody offers much the Wolves might settle for Bridges and 32. However, if the Warriors want Wiseman as badly as I believe they do they will top that offer. My dream is getting out 21 FRP returned.

If the Wolves take Edwards the Warriors take Wiseman. Very high probability that Ball falls to you. If you're smart you let him fall further. Take Okongwu.
