Latinos are about the money which is why more of them are going republican. Probs also helps that the repubs are the nti-abortion policy and latinos trend towards religious

Lots of different factors, that you probably can't quantify & I think this holds true for most immigrants.

Asians (Both East & South), Africans, Latins ... all have a segment that see being white as the ultimate success & are also very racist within their own people

Lots of them are also very anti LGBT

Gov. Wolf & Dems tried to change the law to allow counties to begin processing ballots sooner, but the Rep-led legislature had refused & would only change the law if Democrats agreed to ban ballot drop boxes and support other measures that Wolf has opposed.

Haven't seen anything anywhere about "should have started counting sooner."

However there is something going on related to PA Supreme Court extending the counting of Mail In Ballots an extra three days that is not provided by state law.

SCOTUS has set a deadline of 5PM today for PA to respond to this issue.

They allowed the PA decision to stand in a previous filing but that was when it was locked 4-4, Roberts.

There are other issues in PA not sure how they're being handled.

https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2020/11/stealing_pennsylvania.html#ixzz6cwK9f3K3

First, months out, they claimed they would need three extra days to count the votes.  Then, against all extant state laws, they said they would accept illegible or ballots with no security envelope postmark.  Then, incredibly they said a voter’s signature on the mail-in ballot didn’t have to match the voter’s signature in the voter registration books.  Banana Republic, anyone?

We could be in the courts for awhile this election.

It’s all over twitter coming from Republican leaders and the Republican media.

Jordan, the house leader in PA, a ton of QAnonsense shills.

Don't do Twitter. It would have to be quoted somewhere else for me to see it. Link?

Hopefully Biden just wins Penn so this whole debacle doesn't have to go any further. Relying almost solely on the results of NV would be beyond stressful

is that really true. As a latino I see the split with Cubans it because they just hate the whole bay of pigs mess and Kennedy as a general rule and that is why they vote rep. They wanted castro out and expected more to be done. It has nothing to do with money because most of the cubans that left in 50s and 60s took the cash with them.

Puerto Ricans tend to lean more Dem as a rule and that is not about money but about getting fair treatment. if PR became a state maybe in 50 yrs you would see a larger rep group but right now no. Most PRs I know hate trump because of the way he treate the Island after teh hurricane, while my cousins who think they are white and live in Westchester like trump. To me they have no sense of loyalty to the people that came before us. My grand parents would not have been happy.

Mind my great grand father fought for Spain in the Spanish army that is how part of my family got to the island for starters.

South Americans I can see the cash rep connections but that would be Argentina maybe Peru. Columbia/Brazil I see as a split

Neither PA nor NV will be close enough for a serious legal challenge.

Trump can keep sending Rudy and Eric all over the place if he wants though.

So, with the possibility of a run-off in GA, and Biden winning that would mean dems take control of senate as the VP is the tiebreaker? Is this correct?

j4remi wrote:My point wasn’t built around any policy whatsoever. It was about democratic electoral strategies costing them votes with people of color; losing congressional seats and losing state legislative seats in a year with a historically unpopular president.

The mistakes I singled out were:
- Failures in outreach to people of color, specifying Latino voters since I watched that closely (also rachel bitcofer co-signed Chuck Rocha on this missed opportunity both before and after the election results started pouring in).

- No ground work, literally. Democrats across the spectrum of policy views were telling the Biden campaign that they needed to put canvassers out in battleground states.

- Refusing to pick a stance on key issues. Key here is I don’t think it much matters which direction he’d have gone on the policy; but by being unclear he allowed bad faith actors to fill in the blank and convince some voters not to break his way.

The idea that no voters for Trump were reachable is patently ridiculous to me, at least from the perspective of a person from a Spanish community that knows some trump voters. Chuck Rocha had a good interview with zerlina maxwell where he explained trump’s success in FL.

“Well we beat trump” isn’t enough when the Supreme Court is stacked and Mitch McConnell has a strong chance to continue deciding what legislation gets voted on. It’s not stopping the state legislatures that moved further right. None of that is policy based; it’s just a continuation of failures that we’ve seen at least throughout my lifetime. Way too many Dems only care about holding the executive branch and it shows throughout the judicial and legislative branch being dominated by conservatives.

I don't disagree on critiques 1 and 2.

On 3, I feel a little "meh" about.

If you judge Trump solely on policy or are open to Trump despite his conduct, I think your moral compass is broken at best and you are a racist at worst. The middle of that is that you are ignorant.

I don't know how much you can appeal to those people without compromising yourself as a candidate. A candidate that looks like he's going to win by 4M+ votes

It's not a policy critique, it's a messaging critique. I don't think Biden's campaign taking a firm stance on those issues would be about appealing to anybody but cutting down on the negative partisanship impact.

The Biden tact was basically "by not committing to court stacking we can avoid angering the Republican voter, but we won't piss off the left independent voters either by leaving the door open a crack."

But I think the result actually allowed both of those groups to assume the worst (aided along by bad faith commentary heavily). Had he picked a side, one of the bad faith angles would be a much harder sell.

I'm just posting here to remind myself to save this conversation for sometime in December. I want to see the entirety of all races and results to produce a full post mortem. Then we can have a comprehensive conversation. But Remi makes great points and we'll expand on this further.

But the one unanimous thing we can all agree on is that the Florida Democratic Party must be abolished ASAP.

Biden would first have to win (looks likely)

Perdue would have to stay below 50% (he is at 49.997%) like literally a few votes under 50% (toss up)

Then there would be two runoff senate seats in GA where the dems would have to win both run-offs to gain a tie in the senate with then the VP would be the tiebreaker.

Is it likely? no

Is it a possibility? Absolutely.
