The defense was getting old & Lynch is no longer playing. So, what am I missing?

Kam Chancellor had to retire early due to a serious neck injury. Cliff Avril also retired at the same time. Sherm suffered the Achilles injury & the team thought it was time to move on. Earl Thomas was becoming a problem (injury prone & wanting more $$). He's still unsigned fwiw & past the age of 30 for a safety. They made the right call. Could they have hung onto Sherm? Sure.

They had a good run. But defenses don't stick around for too long. They we're the #1 Scoring defense from 2012-15. That's only been done once before.

Earl is a known knucklehead that is currently unemployed. But sure....

All of those guys that you speak of we're paid by the team. Sherm was the highest paid CB at one time. Earl & Kam we're also the highest paid Safety's.

1. They all got paid
2. Earl originally broke his leg & didn't take the advice of team doctors to have it repaired correctly. Which led to another break in his leg later on. So therefore the team was hesitant about giving him an extension at that point. He was also approaching 30.

The team wasn't sure if he could/would stay healthy going forward. He also was starting to show odd behavior. Baltimore let him go after just a season. He still hasn't signed with anyone. So, they ultimately we're proven right.

Sherm was let go because of the Achilles injury. It takes a long time to heal from that injury & he only had one year left on his contract. So, the team decided to move on.

Exactly my friend! Carroll wanted his boy to be Brady/Montana/Peyton, etc. so bad, that’s why he’s one of the dumbest coaches of all time!... They can’t beat teams like us (when fully healthy), Chiefs, Tompa Bay, Steelers, etc. playing that style of football, it’s a known fact that style doesn’t win Super Bowls.
