Wiggins is an extremely negative contract. If the Warriors are winning it will take the Wolves pick and your own to move him. Maybe just the Wolves pick.

Right now, that's probably the case. Just to get to neutral value with the 3 years left on Wiggins' deal right now, we would likely need to attach either this year's #2 pick, or the Minnesota pick next year. Then to actually fetch a positive asset coming back to us, we'd need to add more value. That's why almost all of the deals suggesting we'd use Wiggins to match salary on a star coming back, we have to add both picks and even more - 1 of the picks negates Wiggins' bad deal, and then the rest of the package is actually trying to match the value for that other player.

But teams will be less averse to take on his contract if there's less time on it, since it wouldn't handicap their cap sheet for as long. And if he demonstrates that he can be a better player, that also improves the value.

Right now he's a guy who (based on what he's shown so far) probably is worth $10M/year, but he's making $30M/year for the next 3 years. So a team trading for him pays $90M for 3 years, and only gets $30M of production. So right now, the Warriors need to "pay" them an additional $60M worth of assets.

Let's say this year, with the Warriors, he shows that he's actually able to play at a $15M/year value. At the end of the year, he'll only have 2 years left. So a team acquiring him says "He'll cost me $60M over the next 2 years, and I'll only get $30M of production". So the Warriors now only have to make up $30M of assets in additional trade value, were they to trade him.

Because his contract is so negative, nobody else wants him now. But it's the Warriors' hope that they can rehabilitate his value by putting him in a position where he has a much better chance to succeed. And maybe next off-season he'd be more tradeable than he is now.

Unless your sending out wiggins to a team with capspace, they will likely be sending out a matching 30 mil. So it comes down to how desperate each team is in.

I don't believe the warriors will be that desperate to include high 1st rounders unless we are getting back a all star or it's a straight salary dump.

Sekou would be interesting but I don’t see the pistons trading him. He’s their lone bright spot.

Sure it could happen. But think about how much negative reaction we’re giving the wolves fan for including our 1 next year to move up. Other teams feel the same way

Ive had my eye’s on their 21 pick ever since the Knicks dropped to 8..they have nobody on that team that’s worth paying to watch play..Combined that with Dolan’s legendary impatience..Something’s gotta give

Getting a FRP out of the Pistons to move up in this draft seems very unlikely unless it's heavily protected. How about trading #2 for #7 and Derrick Rose into the TPE?

Right, but that's moving up 1 spot, for a player who will most likely be there when we pick anyway. For NY, moving up from #8 to #2 is a much larger move and Ball will most likely NOT be there at #8, so they have to give up a lot more.

Don't get me wrong, I would definitely not give up my 2021 FRP, but bad teams do bad things. Maybe with protections.

Yeah, but is the $30M player(s) that they’re sending back a good value, or are they neutral, or are they a bad value?

If the other team is sending out guys who are paid $30M, but are actually worth $45M, don’t you think they’ll want a lot more back than somebody who’s sending out $30M is salaries on players that are only worth $20M?

Trade compensation is all about value, not purely salary. When salaries match but values don’t, one team needs to toss other assets (I.e. draft picks) to compensate for the difference in value.
If I don't have anything funny to say, can I still have a signature?

I think deep down in your heart you know I'm right. This is a GOLDEN opportunity for the Warriors that they simply should not be able to screw up. Getting Wiseman could continue the dynasty and give you a great building block for the future when Curry, Klay and Dray all fade and that time is coming soon. You're not really going to quibble over next years 30th pick in the draft. :noway:

If Wiseman is such a no-brainer, can't-miss, hardened steel lock of a generational talent as you're suggesting, why are you trying to convince everyone so hard to give something up to get him instead of taking him yourself? You have the #1 pick, he's yours if you want him. You're like a snake oil salesman trying to convince a man he really needs that cream to alleviate his menstrual cramps.

Maybe an option for pick swap for 2021 and/or 2022.

Trading for Minny is the stupidest idea ever when GSW gets to choose either Wiseman or Edwards. If Minny can sucker another team to get their first, GSW still have choice of Edwards or Wiseman... Or even options to choose either.

GSW likes #2 even more than #1 because #2 is cheaper to pay for a player they want anyways.

Minny fanboy needs to go to Charlotte board, which no one responds any ways.

Am I the GM of the Timberwolves? NO! I would take him if I had that option. I'm thinking that Rosas is going to draft with the philosophy that you can't play two bigs together. So I think he is going to play Charlotte and GS against each other to get the best offer he can. I also don't think that will be an arm and a leg kind of thing. You could probably get him for 2 and your next years FRP. You can spare pick thirty since you will be getting #4 from the Wolves.
