Good fallback when Lloyd gets fired. Mr. Sonic is solid. Gets my approval!

I do believe that we will have some resemblance to an offense this year but that could also coincide with a year of experience as well as adding vets but some will still knock Pierce’s offense and rightfully so. I mean there is only so much he could do with a young roster but to me, this is a perfect balance of bringing Nate’s offensive scheme to meet Lloyd’s D. 9.3/10 for me. Schlenk gets an A/A- on this hire.

Ps I just said fire Lloyd to fire use up!

I think Nate's mentoring is under appreciated. He worked with Turner, Sabonis, A Holiday, Lamb, and McDermott. He also got Oladipo to ramp things up, even if only for one great season.

Indy's defenses were decent. 3rd in 2018/19 and with Oladipo out or hobbled they were still 6th in defensive rating this season.

Yup also the 4th longest tenured with Pop at 24 seasons followed by Doc at 21 and Carlisle at 18, Nate’s got 16 with D’Antoni. To me he’s a top 10 coach in the league. To get him as an assistant, oh man, the bump in the level of our team will be great from this hire. Wealth of experience and it doesn’t hurt that he was a very aggressive guard during his playing days and very solid defensively to mentor Trae in that department.

Nate:

2× NBA All-Defensive Second Team (1994, 1995)
NBA steals leader (1994)

Not to mention playing with the glove all those years. Trae is going to get better defensively or die  trying.

What caught me off guard is he is only 56. 16 years of experience you would think he'd be a dinosaur.

Nate is a really strong hire for LP. I don't foresee him pursuing the Hawks job long-term, so Pierce can lead lean on him without fear of...betrayal.

It wouldn't surprise me if Nate ends up as an interim coaching option, but I truly hope this staff is intact through next summer when we can really evaluate where all of our pieces stand as a whole.

Having a deep Coaching staff is a thing and with familiar names. I support this completely.

Taking awhile.

Pure conjecture, but wonder if Houston made a last-gasp effort after all, and that's now holding things up. The report I read originally seemed to indicate they really wanted him, but we came in at the last minute.

Great hire. Don't care if he's here to replace or complement. Happy to have him.

I dont know how TS pulled this off but very good move regardless. Imho, I think that TS probably told Nate something along the lines of if LP doesn't have success this season then the job is his.

:D

Hawks have had, already this season, too many very close games that they have lost. Will Nate Mc now be
able to pull the proper strings to change the outcome now? Will the present roster snap out of their own
sleepwalk 4th quarter? Will his voice now stir these players to greater effort?

Trade deadline and the all star break are just ahead. Are the Hawks active here? Will Nate Mc have some
work time with the team over the break?

So many new questions face the Hawks right now. Tonight, we begin the new era.

GO ATL HAWKS !!

Not gonna lie, I figured Pierce just needed a healthy squad, but seeing Nate win against teams he should winning against, I'm a believer that Pierce definitely was the problem. Looks like a new squad out there. The offseason additions are hitting stride. We're finally getting the defense we wanted and more to be honest.

I also get it, that Nate had a cupcake schedule so far, but I'm not sure sure Pierce would have had a streak like this. Couple that with how we blew 4th qtr leads constantly only to lose under Pierce, but then watching Nate regain control after letting Houston make it close to win is something I'm sure we wouldn't have done under Pierce in that game.
