We aren't talking about him being a player. We're literally talking about how he didn't steal 40 million dollars from the economy. The money was already there. It already existed. There was no wealth destruction.
I'll remind you to check the OP and title. We are talking about him being an alltime player or not.
As to the point you want to make this about, nobody here but
you has brought up "
weath destruction". Like your username tho.
Didn't you literally write "he stole 40 million from the economy to sit out a season and made it that much harder for me to get my hands on it."?
That makes no claims about weath destruction on his end. I said he basically stole it. Which isn't directly true, someone gave it to him. But he and his team chose to not allow him to give anything back for it for a season. You may be thinking about him spending that money as if it's just as equally going back to the economy at large as normal. That however is not the point at all.
He just took a paid leave worth a massive portion of 40 million beyond the typical 6 weeks to 2 months an injury like this is afforded. He takes the money and keeps living his highlife while he now adds nothing back for the year to the economy that surrounds that team, and the fans and companies that support all the teams and entire industry that made funding the 40 million/yr possible in the first place.
It doesn't matter if the team can and had chosen to float itself through a tank. It doesn't matter if 500 warriors fans come here to post how much they don't care. They are but a drop in the bucket. What you appear to think about this is inconsequential. It's not just about that them. Without him adding to the pie, he's stealing from the pie and that's coming out of everyone's pocket. Injuries to star players are the risk teams and the entire league's industry bear. Their importance to
all is exactly what makes these ridiculous contract amounts possible. Long fake injury outages, especially for star talents on max deals, are something the league should fight ruthlessly to curtail. It's also what makes resting players so hurtful to the league. But that's been sort of a trade off because if it helps the players stay healthy to play longer into the season some see a couple games off as worthwhile to the total output. If all the star players took next season off so their teams could tank, what do you presume would be the results? Do you think you could even approximate the actual losses?
Getting back to what makes a player an alltime great. Faking the length of injury recovery times doesn't top my ratings.
