This kids possible range of possible outcome is sooooooooo far apart it’s scary.
I dont think he'll ever be Wade, but there is a chance he could be Donovan Mitchell-lite.
It’s tough to become as good a player as Wade and you will go broke more often not making such claims. It’s much easier to have a pessimistic outlook on prospects because flat out more often then not they don’t reach these electric ceilings that are laid out in front of them.
Now after saying all that, I don’t think there is any reason based on what we saw out of Mitchell in college vs what we saw out of Edwards in college that says he can’t reach that level of player. Mitchell never once went for over 25 points in THREE TIMES in two seasons vs Edwards doing this SEVEN TIMES in one year shortened year.
Again this doesn’t mean it will definitely happen, but I can’t find any specific reason to think it can’t happen or won’t happen other than again prospects fail more often than succeed.
I will also say when comparing Edwards to McLemore I don’t see it. Edwards is the type of dude that will make sure your mom and uncles know he dunked on you where as McLemore felt like the type of guy you had to convince he was good.
He would fade in and out of games at Kansas and seemed to lack confidence. I don’t worry about that with Edwards, confidence mixed with elite talent will get you far in basketball.
