The Atlanta Hawks are reportedly in the running to acquire guard Jrue Holiday from the New Orleans Pelicans.
According to Marc Stein of the New York Times on Wednesday, multiteam trade scenarios that would result in Holiday going to the Hawks in return for Atlanta's No. 6 overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft have been discussed.
Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer reported Wednesday that the Pelicans are among teams that have expressed interest in the No. 6 overall pick, along with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Boston Celtics.

Re: Jrue
Better involve an extension. Or, there'd better be a whole lot more to this than our #6 and Jrue.

I hope this is true. I’ll be honest I don’t love the Jrue deal. To me, he’s actually starting to get a bit overrated. He went from underrated to overrated in a few years.

Re: Jrue
This is my mindset in any Jrue trade for #6
If he picks up his option and discusses an extension with the Hawks that can be a way forward.[/quote]

Why do you think he's overrated?

I think he just went from too under the radar to too over but he’s solid and the fact that he’s a popular guy among players is great and good defensively. Honestly, I don’t know? I just feel like him, Middleton and Millsap are all in that category, so actually I do like who he stands for as a solid character 2 way guy.. I just.... I wanna keep looking.

Re: Jrue
New Orleans obviously wants value but they clearly don't see a need for Jrue. Yet, we'll give up the #6, and possibly more to acquire him. I have mixed feelings about the trade and while I hope New Orleans includes more I realize that's probably not going to be the case.

Re: Jrue
The real best thing would be him not taking his option to be free agent next summer, but already agreeing to being re-signed as fast as possible for multi-year and less money per year, leaving cap room to signed another free agent, especially if Dedmon is traded it would leave a Max slot. But it won't happen.
Seriously, I would like to see with ATL, but isn't the team better on the long term and already better than last year if we use the 6th pick on Haliburton and around 5M the first two years instead of trading this pick for Jrue and 26M/27M on the next two seasons ?

Re: Jrue
Hawks have move on from Jrue per Chris Kirschner:
https://theathletic.com/2191275/2020/11/11/atlanta-hawks-nba-draft-preview/
One rumor that emerged Wednesday from the New York Times’ Marc Stein is that Hawks could be a landing spot for New Orleans guard Jrue Holiday in a three-team deal. I was told by multiple sources that the Hawks are not a destination for Holiday. An acquisition of him would have to include the sixth pick and potentially two young players, from what I’ve been told. The Hawks are not interested in making such a move for someone who is 30 years old and on an expiring contract. There’s no doubt that Holiday would be an excellent fit next to Young in the backcourt because of his defensive prowess and ability to be a secondary playmaker, but such a deal would be better suited for a team looking to win a championship this year, and the Hawks aren’t in that conversation. They certainly could be involved in a three-team deal with New Orleans, where the main piece is Holiday, but it’s not a situation where he would play for Atlanta. If the Hawks could just give up the sixth pick and some other smaller pieces, it might be considered, but a deal that involves giving up two young players isn’t in the picture.
