Usually I am trying to figure out who the worst case scenario would be for the Knicks to save my heart from exploding when they inevitably draft them. This year Patrick Williams fits that description for me personally, with Vassell and Okoro as okay-yet-unspectacular picks that would ultimately be meh long term.

But 2020 is a weird year, and anything is possible. My horrific Dolphins actually drafted the QB in Tua they should have instead of doing their usual ridiculous "drafting while on meth" strategy. I think this is the draft we actually draft a good player and it's NOT a colossal disaster. Personally I like Hayes, Kira or Haliburton, but think there are some other solid additions we can make with that first pick.

I'm not saying it's likely the Knicks do the right thing...but it COULD happen in a year as backwards as this.

Williams is the youngest player in the draft (I believe). He's also an athletic freak with solid shooting mechanics and a soft touch. He's going to be a beast.

So we finally met a cool chick after years of being single and we're already flirting left and right?

That's how the Mitch blasphemy feels.

We hit on a second-round pick, only to look at Mitch for his trade value in order to acquire another uncertain asset which could totally bust as much as it could pan out? What's the point? Are we gonna trade away any productive young player until we get the next LeBron?

The feeling I miss the most with this franchise is continuity. We need to develop our young players (the ones who give a crap anyway) and have players we can identify with. Our guys so speak, like Ewing was. I want to feel invested in the careers of the players who wear this jersey. That's why I think we need to hold on to Mitch and RJ and be patient with them. We're never gonna build a culture if we keep treating our most promising guys as mere pawns. That's why they're both untouchable to me.

At least that's my perspective.
