if Bolmaro is the pick, I'd imagine it would be a stash situation

Bolmaro looked really good defensively in the clips I've watched, but his shot looks pretty brutal. I do like that he has a very versatile game at his height.

Re: 2019-2020 College BBall/2020 NBA Draft Vol 1
There is really nothing horrifying about LaMelo's and Anthony's game. They're both super young and their play relative to other one and done is very respectable
The idea that LaMelo will be a defensive sieve is very very inaccurate. He will probably translate to a neutral defender at the NBA level. He's 6'7 and put up respectable steals (1.8 stl/36) and outlier high rebounds. Furthermore, he battles on the offensive board very well (2.2 oreb/36) which usually translates to plus functional strength on both ends of the court. And at his age (he was suppose to be 18 years old at the time of the draft), he will also realistically add more strength over time. He very much has the tools to be a very solid multi-positional defender.
Ultimately, LaMelo's floor is pretty solid considering that he has workable defensive tools + he's the best passer in the draft + he has a very worakble spot-up 3. How his on-ball game improves (both in terms of drawing more free throws + improving his pullup shooting) will dictate whether he is All-NBA material (which is what you want from a top 3 pick) versus just a solid two-way starter (a disappointing outcome for a top 3 pick, but still a useful player on a playoff team).
With respects to Anthony Edwards, not as high on him as LaMelo but still another very solid prospect. Built like a bull, 6'5 with a 6'9 wingspan, 225 pounds, elite athlete. Doesn't really have the defensive instincts to be Oladipo level good on defense (which makes an All-NBA trajectory that much harder). Like LaMelo, super young for a freshman so he's on a bit of a longer learning curve. Dominant in transition, but struggles with shot selection in the half court, takes a lot of inefficient jumpshots that he's currently subpar at, doesn't get to the rim frequently enough. Meh decision maker. Definitely has a solid foundation and the chance to improve over time.
Both will probably fall short of #1 and #2 expectations and will probably fail to make an All-NBA team. But they do check off enough boxes to have a shot at an All-NBA team, have time on their side, and have a guaranteed floor as solid NBA starters.
Could also see a realistic world where the best player from the draft ends up being Killian Hayes (another 6'5 combo guard) or Avdija (playmaking forwards that can efficiently operate from the post are going through a resurgence in the NBA and he is a good team defender, he could be a very consistent plus player throughout his career with or without the jumpshot)

Re: 2019-2020 College BBall/2020 NBA Draft Vol 1
With respects to Bolmaro, a very solid option at 21. Good size + good ball handler + good defense is usually a pretty good formula for a two-way prospect. His soft touch around the rim and his shooting volume bodes well for his shooting long term. Plus 70% from the line last year, currently 21-22 from the FT line this season. Stash keeps a roster spot open which is always valuable
Would prefer to stash him at 34 to free up the tax payer exception a little, but maybe not possible.

That Mock with Bolmaro is what Givony&Schmitz&Pelton would do, their real mock who came out after has Phila taking Flynn
I like Flynn, I think he is going to be good, just don't see the ceiling all that high, but he def would fill a need and is ready to go

no, he doesn't have a 41' vert, no close, he tanked his reach and cheated there, it's obvious, there are previous measurements of his reach from years past

Malachi Flynn / Tre Jones could be my point guard rotation as early as game 1 honestly

I wonder if Givony is also floating out there that we're one of the teams much higher on Malachi Flynn. Riller and Hinton are just icing, but I wonder if Flynn/Joe/Jones are our main targets heading into the 18th.

Definitely. There's no chance we're using more than 3 of those picks.

Wondering how you could watch Arkansas play at all and come to the conclusion that you want Isaiah Joe and not Mason Jones

I think it's pretty clear that Joe has a defined role and a skill-set to match it (with a little physical upside) while Jones is not athletic enough to play in the NBA the way he played in college.

Combine measurements are in. Some notes:
1) Tyrell Terry 6' 1.5" w/out shoes, 6' 1.75" wingspan, and 8' standing reach. Not good. I do NOT see us interested in him at #21 anymore and I feel he falls past us.
2) Grant Riller 6' 0.25" w/out shoes, 6' 5.25" wingspan, and 8' 0.5" standing reach. Also not good. Nowhere close to his listed 6'3". I see him falling to the mid second round, where I'd be open to taking him.

I'm NOT IMPRESSED with our potential selections at #21 overall. So I'm more open to trading it away. Or taking an upside stash like Theo Maledon, Leandro Bolmaro, or Aleksej Pokusevski.
We can find contributors with a few of our 2nd round picks.

That's pretty understandable, but I think Mason can hit every shot Isaiah Joe can while having another level of upside as a secondary creator. I've been watching a lot of whatever Arkansas basketball content I can find online to see Joe but it ends up usually being the Mason Jones show. Still flip flopping back and forth though because i can definitely see why someone like Joe is coveted playing under more structure at the next level.
