If GS really thinks they have a shot @ Giannis... they may need to trade the #2 & Wiggins. Just because I'm bored - GS wants a big, right? Wonder would they swap picks with us JUST for taking Wiggins salary and they still could probably select Okongwu (who'd also save them money #8 vs #2). One could only hope.

You want to spend about $90+ million to move up from 8 to 2? That’s essentially what you are saying. I’m sorry but we are spending that kind of bread and giving you a shot at signing Giannis, then I’m expecting a hell of a lot more. That money is dead weight on a player whole doesn’t perform anywhere close to his salary.

Let me ask you this and I'm not disagreeing with your statement at all... but would you accept Wiggins if it meant getting D Mitchell?

If I knew we would get him then I wouldn't think twice. But it will take a hell of a lot more than the number 2 pick just to get him, so realistically I wouldn't. That and the fact that I'm not looking to trade any of our 2021 picks. IF we do pull of this trade than it would be straight up for the number 2 pick or the Twolves 2021 pick (since its top 3 protected) and NOT a pick swap.

He shot 40% from the field in the playoffs. 41% from the field in the season. Career 41% from the field. He’s inefficient. Put him in a bigger role he’s going to be worse.

but how do you know that? he got better every year. I'm not saying i want him for 25 million a year, but for 18-20 I'm in.

He’s nice signing if you already have a good team. We don’t. He’s about to be 27 and he’s an inefficient mini shooting guard. I’ll pass and tank for a better long term PG.

I was thinking about this and was going to mention it; glad I read and caught up first.

I mean, IF the Knicks think FVV can be a piece, then they go and commit half of of the money available to "max cats" in FVV, for FOUR years. I mean, they better be sure.

And you'd hope the Knicks get pretty good 2 years in, since does anyone really want to resign a 31/32 year old PG?

It's worth considering FVV is 27 and not 24/25.

I think Gilbert is right.. and it’s kind of why I’m a lil skeptical on if the game has passed Thibs by.. of course playing great defense is important still. But you also have to have fire power to compete in today’s NBA.. just getting by on defense only like the 04 pistons won’t cut it

Makes the assumption Thibs only cares about defense like he's Chuck Daly or Mike Fratello and will be looking to win 80-75.

Really not high on Kira, I feel like if he didn't look a little like Morant he'd be going in the 20s, but those locks and being 6'2"-6'3" got people looking at him like he's the next point god . Nothing really jumps out about him other than his speed, he's not really that quick in the halfcourt, he's not explosive, he's not a great shooter, he seems like your standard PG. I don't see someone like him ever being a top 5 guy at PG, so why is there such overt love for him?

I'd rather take a chance on Hayes or even Terry, especially since I wonder how a guy like Lewis will transition from always having the ball, to having to learn to play off it because RJ will need it as well. At least with Terry there's an elite skill there that could turn him into a valuable off ball player, and with Hayes he has the size to play the 2. Really, I don't like Maxey or Lewis, they're like the standard "Me too" PG where nothing really stands out. They're also at a size where you can't play them at the 2, so if you draft them they absolutely have to be your starting PG, or else it's a wasted pick since they can't be anything else.

Okoro to Hawks seems possible.
Again, I'm probably just reworking various rumors in my head, but Hawks seem to be at the phase where they convert some assets or picks into a better player - a talent consolidation. So I could see them try to move up for Edwards, or trade for JRue - something where they flip a pick/player for the better player

I wonder if the competition from Charlotte and Detroit makes the price of the salary dump deals going down.

If we wait for a bit, we can become the only option available and we can force a better return.

But I dont know if there are enough deals for everybody. And there is the risk of us being seduced by a trade offer for some big name.

Most Media analysts love him. But NBA scouts don't. It's intriguing.

Maybe most NBA scouts didn't watch his games in person. It's tough to recommend a guy in these circumstances.

I mean, just compare him to Buddy Hield a few years ago

Buddy was coming off a monster college season (25/6/2 on 50/46/88 splits), and gets taken 6th. To be fair, Buddy was a year older than Obi coming out of college cause someone got his birth year wrong somewhere, but still

Hield is a good player, averages 20 a game on solid efficiency which I think is what Obi can do, but he's kind of a role player, which is what I feel Obi's ceiling is as well, especially since he's not a perimeter player and therefore isn't gonna create as much, which is how modern offenses (exception Denver) are built.
