It just seems like the PR hit on a Kemba trade would be so rough. I just can't see it.

Unless Kemba is thrilled to go to NO or some other city where he's re-routed.

Yeah if true, no way it's Kemba. Would make zero sense for NO.

Would be Hayward IMO.

We can reasonably end up with

NOP gets: #7 from Detroit, Jeremy Lamb (Salary matching)

BOS gets: Myles Turner, Jrue Holiday

IND gets: Gordon Hayward

NYK gets: #14, #26, #30

was about to ask for a cap nerd with more time than me to post a trade where we give up picks and get Jrue and Turner.

Kemba
Jrue
JB
JT
Turner

Smart
Langford
Grant
Theis
Timelord

Maybe another wing in free agency for depth.

Celtics need scoring off the bench. No one better than Redick

What? Redick would be coming off the bench as 6th man and lighting it up from three. He's the exact player they need coming off the bench to provide some semblance of shooting

Maybe there are multiple moves imminent. Curiouser and curiouser.

They just cant deal him due to the chemistry, I think. Would be a baaaad look, IMO

Unless Kemba asks to come home to NYC. Maybe another star is on his way there.

(27 hours and counting without power and a typhoon don't stop me from getting a post in after a biggish rumor lol.)

So Boston "scores" better but gives up so much more defense and rebounds down low..

IF Ainge/Boston gives up all 3 1st rders (which I am against) I would much rather for Okongwu who could help right away but still grow with the Js and Smart, then a soon to be 31 Y.O guard with only 2 years left on his contract.

The Jrue news means Hayward is cooperating and is willing to be part of a trade to certain locations. Most likely Indy. This has the makings of a 3 or 4 team trade. If Hayward is going to opt in and cooperate that gives Ainge great flexibility to bring back multiple players. Tatum/Brown/Smart aren't going anywhere. Book that. Kemba probably isn't leaving either. I'd also like to note that Daniel Theis is really valuable around the league right now at his price tag. So if Boston is aiming to upgrade the middle it would be best to capitalize on Theis' value right now as well because after this upcoming season he's going to want some money and duration which I'm not sure Boston would be willing to do. Especially with Grant/Robert waiting in the wing.

Hayward/Theis filler could get Boston to a place where they could acquire Jrue & Turner. Remember this is a very, very short offseason too so I'm sure there's a way for a handshake deal where teams could factor in rookie salaries into the trade to make it all match. I'd have to defer to someone who's more knowledgeable of the rules this offseason to confirm.

My guess is Jrue/Turner to Boston. Hayward/Picks/Filler out. My second guess is a deal doesn't get done....We've already heard a report that Boston was interested in trading into the lottery, but hadn't had success in doing so quite yet.

for fun.....let's look at a roster if Jrue/Turner come to Boston

Kemba-Jrue-Brown-Tatum-Turner-Smart top 6 is NASTY!

Idk why we keep talking about Kemba being moved. It seems pretty clear to me Hayward would be the piece being moved out in any trade scenarios involving big salary.

Here's what I think... The Celtics and their picks are getting used again by other orgs to raise bids from other teams, this time by the Pelicans who are likely not getting the juicy offers they want for Holiday. Same old, same old.

Right now, we don't even know if we can trade Hayward prior to the draft. He hasn't opted in yet, unless I missed something in the last 10,000 years we lost electricity.

I’d do it but can’t trade Kemba. It would be way too dangerous when it comes to signing free agents in the future for us.

what if Boston does get the chance to trade all 3 1sts for Okongwu, then GH would have to be traded for a center. and maybe extending him at a reasonable rate may be the way to go.. just thinking out loud.

Again, Hayward will make nearly 40M if he’s traded— zero chance he opts out to take less next year. 40 **** million dollars is a crazy amount of money.

It's Hayward. Doubtful he picks up and leaves without helping the Celtics. It's a help me and I'll help you situation between Hayward/Boston. Remember, Boston gave him a ton of money and was very patient with his rehab. Boston has given him every opportunity to be successful in Boston including throwing him back in the starting lineup in year 2 when he probably shouldn't have been in there to start. Unfortunately for Hayward the situation in Boston changed dramatically from when he first signed in Boston. Tatum/Brown emerging changed things. Kyrie leaving changed things. A lot has changed. That's why right after this season I rushed to the computer to talk about how it's very likely that Hayward is the one that would like to move on. However, he is close with Brad Stevens. Mutual respect and love there. And I believe Hayward and Ainge have a good relationship as well. So it's Hayward.

Doubtful Smart gets moved. He's the heart & soul of this team. Means too much to the organization at this point and is just entering his prime years.
Tatum/Brown aren't going anywhere.
Kemba is too early in his deal for Ainge to give up on him. Ainge liked Kemba. Tatum/Kemba have the Jordan brand connection. Kemba is going to be here at least another season before his name pops up in trade rumors.

Hayward/Theis/Picks is the most appealing pieces. If Indy likes Hayward, Boston likes Jrue/Turner, and Nola wants another lottery pick then there's your deal

Aside from the trades, I'm assuming you're in the Phillipines right now? If so, stay safe looks awful over there with the typhoons.
