Re: Official 2020 NBA Draft Thread
Minnesota might move Culver and the 17 for Atlanta's 6th pick. Maybe we can send AG and the 15th for JJ and the 6th.
So AG would cost Minnesota, Culver and JJ. Then they'd move up 2 spots in the draft.

Are we talking up to the top 3 or like 6-9?
If its 15+gordon, it better be top 5, and like Skin said, better be for edwards
Giving AG and 15 to move up to 7-9 range seems very dumb
But again, im only giving up AG if it nets us edwards

Re: Official 2020 NBA Draft Thread
I'd be surprised if we moved up.. not that I don't think we're "exhausting all options", but we usually have a pretty tight-lipped FO. But hey, sure, why not.

If these rumors are true (even if the trade doesn’t materialize) then it means they are in love with someone specific.
We all have our favorites.
I wonder who WeHam is willing to sell out for?
... AG + #15 is a lot to give up. To me, it feels like it has to be for Edwards but that feels like a decision made if I were in charge rather than a decision they would make.

Re: Official 2020 NBA Draft Thread
Hayes, Deni, and possibly Edwards are worth trading up for.... not seeing another player up top worth 15+AG.
Which means a top 5 pick...
Also, the salary has to make sense.

Re: Official 2020 NBA Draft Thread
I'd be okay with trading AG and the 15th pick for Haliburton, Hayes, or Okoro. Just reading that players shot 19% against Okoro when he was on the ball.

He's not Dion Waiters.
The concerns with Edwards are about his shot selection, shooting, and defense. He has very high upside as a defender though, so even if he never becomes a good team defender, he will be useful as a man defender. If he just learns to stay focused and work on his technique, he is too athletically gifted not to be a decent defender or better. I think he is a capable shooter. I think his percentages are a function of his shot selection, which is really loose. He just has to learn not to settle. Edwards' dribble is functional enough for him to get wherever he wants to on the court. His feel isn't good, but his ceiling is still sky high. he isn't selfish and he can pass the ball.
I think he has legit bust potential, but I'd also be perfectly fine rolling the dice on him. His physical tools are that special.

Yeah. Probably. But if it gets them the guy that they want, then I can understand it. Regardless, I don't think we would find out until draft night unless it gets us one of the top-2 picks. The Magic won't pull the trigger unless their guy is on the board. Or at least you'd hope not. I'd hate to think that they just want to aimlessly move up in the draft to get Gordon off the roster.

or Donavan Mitchell, Bigger Oladipo.. Seems like his issues are more bad habits than anything else. Waiters seems lazy. I don't get the same vibe from Edwards. He's got some good NBA skills like scoring off of hang dribbles, jabs steps, step backs.

That’s what I figured, but other teams don’t seem to value him the same. I would want some kind of assurance that we’d get Edwards.

Re: Official 2020 NBA Draft Thread
Atlanta at 6, Detroit at 7 and New York at 8 all have enough cap space to absorb Gordon's contract outright.
Not saying the Magic should outright punt Gordon (they shouldn't), but if they wanted to shed the salary, that's an option.

I agree with you. Shot selection can be worked at. That depends on coaching and experience plus work. I guarantee you he is not Dion Waiters and he has a huge upside to work with, and he will get there! WITH WORK

Dion Waiters is a stiff compared to Edwards.
That said, that stiff always goes OFF against the Magic. He's a Magic wreaking ball.

Yeah.. I agree.. our FO is as secretive as you can get about their decisions. Where would these "sources" get their info about all these rumors?

I don't think we get any info about who they're are going to draft. I remember we all heard about the Fultz trade way before it happened.RookieStar wrote:Yeah.. I agree.. our FO is as secretive as you can get about their decisions. Where would these "sources" get their info about all these rumors?

From what i understand... the kid is pretty green as a basketball player... and was into football until his highschool years. Taking that into account ... he could have an outrageous amount of untapped potential... and development would be key. This factor alone can answer a lot of the question marks that many have. Now... it doesn't guarantee that it will all come to fruition... but the foundation is there... as his size, athleticism, and innate skills have gotten him this far.... imagine when he pulls it all together with the mental maturity and experience. SO... yeah... he's right up there on my list with Deni.

Atlanta at 6 and grabbing Hayes would be a dream scenario. If WeHam get a top 5 pick for AG +15 I’ll be absolutely shocked.
