Thoughts on drafting a player like Devin Vassell?

Nah, we already have Huerter and Reddish on the wings

Maybe, if we trade/fall out of the top-5 of the draft

Absolutely, he's a Klay Thompson clone and fits perfectly

11. Devin Vassell, SF, Florida State | Sophomore

Height: 6' 7" | Weight: 195 | Age: 20 | Previous Rank: 10

Vassell should be able to help his next team in relatively quick fashion, as a quality defender and three-point shooter who doesn’t need heavy touches to be effective. Wings in his mold are in high demand, and although his upside might be limited by his lack of explosiveness and struggles creating shots for himself, Vassell brings enough to the table that it’s relatively easy to pencil him in as a useful role player at worst. He has a knack for blowing up plays and taking away passing lanes, and despite his unorthodox shooting release should be able to keep defenses honest and space the floor. Vassell won’t be the biggest upside play in the back half of the lottery, but makes sense on most any roster as a long-term rotation piece and potential starter.

Report: Devin Vassell was just goofing around during awkward shooting video

A video emerged of Vassell shooting 3-pointers with a funky form, cocking the ball way behind his head. It looked nothing like his efficient jumper at Florida State.

John Hollinger of The Athletic:

...sources insist that it was just him goofing around and not a real change in his form.

For Vassell’s sake, I hope this is accurate. The video was alarming. The stakes are high. If Vassell’s shooting form hasn’t regressed, maybe he belongs among the draft’s top prospects.

We end up with either Florida State guy I’m not mad. I think they both fit the heck out of the modern NBA. Vassell should go top 10. Patty Will top 14. Trade down scenario we gotta nab one of these kids.

I really think it would be hard to botch this draft. It’s not the best or deepest or most talented drafts but I think it’s gonna produce some solid pros. Not many busts in the top 10 picks this year.

Man I really wanted this kid to be our Klay Thompson. With Huerter traded, Bogdan injured and Cam in search of superstardom...DV could have fit in perfectly as the pre-eminent 3 & D specialist in the EC.

I had Jalen Smith #1 on my board in that draft. I called him a poor man's Anthony Davis. This year so far Smith is making me look good. I'm trying to find my old posts about him. Kong was ok, but i liked Smith better because Smith has a nicer and cleaner shooting mechanics.

I'm officially wondering if Hawks dropped the ball by passing on Vassell and Ty Haliburton in the 2020 draft.
