I'm sure Houston is going to try to squeeze out as many quality win now pieces for Westbrook as they can but the question is who is willing to give them that? Somebody needs to step up to the plate or they might have to settle for the Knicks nothing offer. They don't have much time as this is an extremely short offseason so this cant drag on for long as the draft is around the corner and free agency right after that then training camp.

they would get under but the knicks aren't giving the rockets a 40 million dollar TPE that would be insanity. They would at least be taking randle...plus other pieces maybe DSJ.

Yeah but I'm sure they rather get talent rather than expirings to pawn off for talent down the line. They would likely prefer immediate help so its probably what they are seeking. If they dont get it then yeah they gotta settle for our nothing offer.

Here's the weird thing about acquiring him: he's not hateable in the traditional sense. He's one of the realest, craziest, high intensity, angry, competitive players this league has seen in the past few decades. He's completely embraceable. His personality is quintessential NY. He's a totally perfect fit from that standpoint. I would LOVE him when he's destroying on the court.

The problem is the contract, the trajectory, and the fact that the destroying he does too often is that of his own team's chances.

if westbrook was even 2 years I would say maaaybe....he is going to be 35 yrs old in this 3rd year making nearly $50 million dollars. There is no other way to describe that other than insanity.

ANd then in 2 years when we find out we can land a star we will have this albatross unmovable on our hands and can't move it.

How much cap space do we have? Don't we have something like 30 mil? Plus we have some partially guaranteed deals like Ellington and Bullock, right? I don't know if Randle has to be included in such a deal from a salary numbers standpoint
